2024 TRANSFER TRACKER

We will finish ahead of Kentucky, Alabama and Ole Miss. I’d bet anyone who wants to take that bet $100.

Only teams that have a leg up on us in the SEC at the moment are South Carolina, LSU and Texas.
I don’t know much about Kentucky, but Ole Miss and Alabama finished ahead of us last season, so we just have to prove it,

And Iowa State? I just don’t get it, they have Crooks and yes they played decent this season but I truly don’t see them being a top 10 team ever.

Same with KState, they will do well in their league but on a national scale they are not a top 10 program.

I’m more sold on Bama… OM hasn’t replaced last years production and don’t really have young players to fill those holes either
You know better than me because I don’t know their roster. We just need to make sure we get all our licks back from last season, and that goes for every team that beat us.

Oof I didn’t even notice them AT 7?????

Fringe top 25 if even.. I wouldn’t have them ranked.. we should be right in that 20-30 range rn. Easy top 20 with RW.

Charles and Dolson are the only ones you mentioned that are worth a dang.

The others had decent college careers because most of their schedule was against crappy AAC and Big East teams with 0 size.

ONO is mid at best and will be outta the league after this season. Edwards will not be successful in the WNBA, not good enough from the outside and not physical enough in the paint.

Juhasz is like Stewie in that she can play perimeter to interior but again, she’s meh.
Edwards will be fine. She'll play her natural PF position and will likely have a good WNBA career. Probably won't be a star, but will be a reliable mainstay. As competitive as the WNBA is, the fact that ONO and Dorka made final rosters is a good reflection on their skills. They won't be WNBA stars, but they are filling supporting roles. I think Dorka was a starter last year as a first year player and had a decent scoring/rebound average. Also, it's not like other schools have a monopoly on churning out successful post players to the WNBA.

Right now ESPN doesn’t have us in the top 30
They need to do more with the portal. They lost Powell, Jackson, Striplin and Key. Spencer offsets Powell, but Latham/Spearman will likely not replace the productivity of the departing frontcourt players. Boyd/Cooper are still unknowns. If they snag some more portal gold, maybe they'll get ranked, but my prediction is that they will start the season unranked and be forced to prove otherwise.

I do think Latham is an upgrade over Striplin and Key, but we still need more, we shouldn’t be ranked until we prove we deserve it.

Latham and spearman more than replace what we lost with Key and Striplin. Both players rebound better and that’s really what we need out of those positions.

The one part where I don't think Latham matches up with Key is defensively. Even when she wasn't at her best, she was still a defensive nightmare. Latham is 6'2, so she will not replace 6'7 Key. Their interior defense will not be as stingy as it was with Key there.

Latham moves her feet better and have keep a player in front of her. Key was tall and would block shots because of that but she wasn’t some great defender. Overall Latham is way better, but we do need someone a lil taller in the paint.

Rebounding, yes. But Key's interior defense was a huge factor. They would have lost a ton more SEC games this year if not for how well she defended the paint. Petty would have gone off against them if not for Key coming in and shutting her done.

Key was just too much of a liability it different ways, not being able to catch a pass in the air or a bounce pass, wasn’t strong in the paint, getting the ball snatched out of her hands by small guards, I’ll leave it at that for now.

I will agree with this. On offense, I think the more mobile posts will be better. But on the other end of the court, guards getting by the first line of defense will not be as contested at the rim, and post players will have an easier time scoring without Key taking up a wide load in the paint.

Having better guards guarding on the perimeter should help, and having athletic forwards that can jump and block shots will do the job.

That’s just a lazy take. Their recruiting rankings and top 25 rankings are always way off compared to the actually pros in the industry.
Plus they may be a little jaded since we were ranked in their top 10 last year starting out.
All they see is we had a season that was below expectation, lost a top player in the country and have a coaching change.
Personally I’d rather be unranked and come out swinging.

Defense is gonna be totally different. We should not have to rely on a rim protector anymore. Our perimeter and ball pressure defense should be much better.

That was a problem last season with Key only being about to go about 15 minutes and those minutes were not what they used to be. Went from averaging 4 blocks to 1.
