2025 NBA Season Thread aka Draymond's Annual Wealth Destruction Tour

@n_huffhines when do we start the LeBron MVP talks

It is crazy what he's doing. His body must feel pretty good right now, but it's like he's got this new elite skill of knowing when to go. I think he's had a good sense of this for well over a decade, but in recent years it felt like it was a little stat-padding-ish. He picked his moments so he could strategically rest...and then later, because the team was just treading water and he was out to get his numbers. These last couple months it really does feel like he's harnessed it for the ultimate good of the team. He's been so good at trying to get other guys going and figuring out who is on each given night, and picking up the slack where needed.

I think now that he has more reps with Reaves, and the addition of Luka, Lebron as a cutter has become more devastating, even in his old age. I would watch the Lakers in the past and Lebron would make a good cut and not get the ball and he'd be so mad, like "I'm 38/39/40. I can't just be sprinting for cardio." and now it doesn't seem like any of those cuts are going to waste.

After I finished a couple MLB tiers list, I think I’m writing a long Bill Simmons-esque legacy piece on Durant. I have so many thoughts on his career

He might be the most disappointing elite player of all-time.

OKC - built a team from shambles into a contender but then dipped. I would not hold this against him, except for the fact that every other stop had problems.
GSW - wasn't happy hitching his wagon to a championship team, and dipped after much drama.
BKN - didn't have the leadership to make more of this situation, then tried to get everybody fired, and then demanded a trade before his extension kicked in.
PHX - didn't make us better, hasn't been a leader, and surprise, surprise, the locker room is garbage.

He was at #12 when ESPN did their top 75 ranking. I thought it was insane to have him ahead of Steph, and it's even dumber now. He probably shouldn't be ahead of Hakeem, Dr. J, Steph, or Dirk, Moses Malone, or Jerry West.

Mavericks trade Luka and raise ticket prices for next season 8.6%.

Aah good times ...

Now Kyrie injured just keeps getting worse for Mavericks.

Basketball gods have kicked the Mavs in the nuts since that trade....

Honestly, the Mavs have been one of the biggest circuses in the NBA since the 2011 title

- didn't run it back with Chandler
- a lot of bad/mediocre years to get to Luka
- toxic work environment stuff
- the people they cleared out to appease Luka
- Cuban selling the team thinking he would still run things

Maybe too early to write the eulogy, and I probably wouldn’t say a top 5 what if guy, but if we ran Kyrie’s career 10 times, this outcome was what, The 6th or 7th best outcome?

Kyrie is gonna be 13th in games played after this year in his draft class 😬😬😬

I mean, he did get a title. I don't think his problems are flukey. This is one injury. I think he's had 2 major injuries. The rest of his career is basically empty stats and fkn up good situations. He could've spent another 6 years in Cleveland doing absolutely nothing if Lebron doesn't show up.

Masai Uriji is the new Joe Dumars. He’s gonna pay Brandon Ingram, Immanuel Quickley, Scottie Barnes and RJ Barrett $137M next year, all are signed long term, and none of them are a top 40 player

LeBron with 34 and Luka with 30/8/15 good times for my Lakers at the moment...

50,000 points is unbelievable on it’s own, but look at LeBron’s playoff point totals compared to everyone else. LeBron has 8,000+ playoff points, and has 2,000+ more points than 2nd place. He has 36% more total playoff points than 2nd place. The consistency he has had throughout his career has been phenomenal.

The 50K is including playoff points

If you had a player play an average of 90 games per year, for 20 years, that averaged 25 ppg…

They would still be 5,000 points short of 50,000 total.

25 years from now, people are going to look at Lebron's numbers and ask, "wait, a bunch of you 70-year-old dudes think a guy who played a great 11 years is the GOAT over a guy who did it for 22?"

What’s going with the Suns and Bud? I’ve been seeing stories that KD and Book don’t see eye to eye with him. I haven’t been able to keep up with the league as much this year

Not totally sure. I looked at Bud as one of the best schemers in the league, but this year we are much worse with D and rebounding. The center position is the biggest problem for us. The only thing I have heard is that Bud told Book to stop being so vocal, and IDK what that's about. Sounds like the opposite of what you'd want.

KD is butthurt about being in trade rumors. He just seems like a guy who wants to show up and hoop, and if we win, great. If we don't, his attitude is "well, I played well." and coach is getting after the guy who does care. It's a terrible situation, and I just hope the Suns can be crawling out of this hole by the time my 4 YO starts caring about the NBA. My only hope for success in the near future is that we get a decent trade for KD and pick somebody up in FA the next couple years.

He’s never gotten it

Timberwolves would be happy to send Randle and spare parts for KD
