This is the 3rd consecutive year UConn has been assigned to the west coast. But I don’t think his argument has anything to do with the location - after all, he schedules OOC west coast games almost every year.

The issue is having this many teams in one location makes for logistical problems. Teams not getting decent hotels without having to add much more travel time, limited flexibility in scheduling court time for practice, etc.

I went to the Albany regional last year and absolutely hated having to get in and out. I literally had to get to the first game 2 hours early not to be stuck in traffic and get a good parking space. And that was just a pain in the ass for me, a fan.

I do genuinely think that having all of these teams in one location and having to give them all ridiculous schedules is actually affecting the outcome of games.

Several years ago my brothers and I went to the regionals held at the University of Rhode Island, back when they didn’t have super regionals. It took us a really long time to get to the venue because of traffic tie-ups. Professionally I’ve organized large scale recycling collection events and I was really disappointed at how poorly URI handled traffic.

Side note: currently watching Duke vs South Carolina. Rooting for Duke! I respected Kara Lawson as a player and really liked her as a broadcaster, especially when she worked alongside Lobo. I think she’s done a nice job at Duke, particularly given the challenge of navigating Covid when she started.

Agree not a great look but I don’t think how it’s being officiated is helping. Not a benefit to either side but makes for choppy watching.

I’d pay for the NCAA to develop some type of accountability system or grading system for these refs! As the game grows and these girls get faster and stronger, the officiating HAS to get better!
