2025 Recruiting

You guys hurt recruiting more than you help.. If you are an elite player you are not wasting minutes. And1 was spot on about south carolina playing time.... if you produce you get more playing time and the player that does not produced will be cut out of the next rotation.

That is the golden rule of sport (or should be)
Obvious favorites with the last two staffs,,,jury's out until I look at em in action ;o)

Stats for CKC's players may show fewer "minutes-on-court" but they are probably equal to or greater in "minutes actually playing basketball" as opposed to time spent running back downcourt to set up defense and wait, or setting up elaborate offensive plays that run shooters through multiple screens, or passing the ball around the perimeter looking for an opening to get the ball in to your low post.

I think the key stat comparison for recruiting would be number of shots attempted per minute played in CKC's system vs. LSU, Texas, the USCs, or whoever.

As for players who want to get into a rhythm...

When the name of our game is "take the first open shot, go get the ball back, then take your next open shot"... the rhythm be like:

No top player will come if they are getting under 30 mins, I would say u need at least 2 players that play around 32-35 mins and the rest can be moved around. As an example of those 2 type of players, I’ll use Kiki and Juju.
We have players who have come here knowing they may not get the minutes. This is new basketball. Bye bye to the old.

You don’t really think us or you has any actual effect on recruiting do you? And you don’t think Kim’s often stated subbing pattern is a secret from recruits, right?

It’s not only the total number of mins, tho there is that. It’s also that some like to play longer continuous stretches w/o the frequent shift type subbing.

That rotation at Marshall went twelve deep. Points per minute is pretty consistent across the squad.
points look great but if you cant rebound or even have a focus on rebounding in the SEC good luck getting close to winning .......im a bit concerned as i've heard not 1 thing about a focus on rebounding or boxing out and more so pace and just scoring . This is the SEC have we not seen Arkansas ?

You haven't seen the practice whiteboard? You need to pay better attention.

We have yet to see what the subbing patterns will be, so it's too early to draw conclusions. I don't really understand all the hand-wringing about players getting 30+ minutes. Most college players in the top programs do not average 30+ min. To think that players are not considering Tenn because they think they won't get enough PT is a fallacy, it's actually the opposite.

I predict that CKC will player her main five more than she did at Marshall. Why? TV timeouts. In big televised games you can work your substitutions around those planned stoppages. In big games, I think our best players will get 30-34 minutes.

With four 10-minute quarters, you can play your first 5 for 4 minutes. Sub in your next 5 for 2 minutes. After the under 5 TV timeout, bring your first 5 back in for 4 minutes. That gets your first 5 32 minutes per game ... if they have the proper stamina. Some players, especially your 5 position might need to be subbed more frequently, it doesn't need to be hockey-style.

Im not playing russian roulette , we just need to remember this is the SEC the best conference in the country and it just got better with two top 25 additions. They can both REBOUND just like the last 3 or 4 SEC champs . What makes us think this method will outdue the formula that's been winning even when WE were the top dog winning SEC titles ? All im saying is id like to hear more about rebounding and what the focus is and who we expect to be our leaders in that category instead of always about the new pace of CK .

From early on Kim has reinforced the metric of rebounding. That’s one way to swing the number of possessions, her basic tenet.

Most teams in basketball who focus on possessions have rebounding low on the priority list not saying this team does but history says majority of them do including pro teams who use this style. PHX Suns , PHX Mercury , GS Warriors , etc...fill it up and push .

They’ll focus on offensive rebounding.

Could be. Maybe why LSU said thanks but no thanks to Chavez?
Reportedly LSU moved on because Chavez wanted more in NIL funds than they were willing to offer. Reportedly.

Also, they play two different positions so I think Kim would definitely take both if she had the chance. She loses Day-Wilson (PG) and Morrow (F) after this season.

There hasn’t been much of anything atleast publicly that has connected Knox to being LSU bound. As for the follows, LSU coaches and players follow just about any player that has visited and her following back doesn’t say much. I wouldn’t be surprise if she commits to either of the four schools.
I think maybe this rumor she is LSU bound is coming from the BallOut post a few days ago.
That site loves to throw out unconfirmed rumors to get fanatics to subscribe.

They are actually spot on most of, if not all, of the time. Knox to LSU seems like (almost) a done deal.
