Looks like half of the top 10 and half of the top 20 have transferred (and on down to the top 50). So it's about a 50/50 chance of keeping vs. losing your HS recruit.Literally I want to say class of 2022 the entire top ten has transferred lol don’t mark my words on 80% I just threw out a number guys but it’s definitely higher than 50 %
And she’s signed two five stars, one from the 2025 class, and one through the portal. So where does the not having been there long enough to sign elite players fit in?Maybe follow the post I posted in. I made zero comment on who we have gotten or who we will get. I simply disagreed with a poster who said she hasn’t been at TN long enough to get elite players. Is that clear enough?
Well, I said that too. It’s not extremes. My point is that the longer Coach is here, the better the chances to bring in more elite players. Also, Coach has said publicly that a player can be ranked high but not be right for our team. This is her system. That has nothing to do with the topic I replied about I replied to a poster saying she hadn’t been here long enough to get elite kids.
Scheyer doesn’t count bc he was the coach in waiting at Duke. He already had relationships with the recruits. We already have higher rated commits than Pope and Oats did during their first year. Kevin Young is an NBA guy with excellent connection. He managed to land one international player that was higher rated than our two commits. We have an amazing coach backed by the top administration in the SEC. We are sweating over nothing, imo.Scheyer, Pope, even the new BYU guy is about to, Oats.
I am not sweating anything. How hard is it to understand I just said first year coaches can get elite recruits? I never said we aren’t. BYU will and THIS is the first year for Pope and he will. I’m no mind reader at all but I would think our coach’s lack of experience at the top tier of WBB might engender hesitancy more than substitution patterns. Undoubtedly other coaches are pointing out that very fact.I’m not complaining. Stating a fact. Unless someone in this forum can read recruits’ minds, we have absolutely no way of knowing what they think about Kim’s system.
In addition, many have already been surmising that CKC's style is the future of women's basketball. If it attracts more fans, the WNBA will adopt it, and soon! Here's what I think recruits should keep in mind about playing in Kim's high-octane system:
When their time at Tennessee is over, and the season just ended and it's WNBA Draft/training camp contract time, a player who has been at Tennessee will go into training camp and NOT be drag-assin' as she tries to keep up with the pros. Lady Vols, from here on out, will be the players WNBA GMs and coaches will appreciate for coming to camp ready to run without getting gassed, and they will NOT have to be reminded to go hard.
Kim Caldwell's players will NOT go into a WNBA training camp with anything but supreme confidence that they will have the stamina to compete with anyone.
This is NOT the case for players from every college program. Some players go into training camp and find out on Day One that they are woefully out of shape compared to the pros.
So, yeah. Tennessee is going to be a fantastic place for players who have aspirations of turning pro and making a roster. They'll be ready.
Conditioning has not been a problem for the LVs most recent W players. Jordy has battled some injuries, but clearly has been in great physical shape and can go all day. Once Curt started trusting Rickea, she was a 35 min a game player w no problems. Here's what I think recruits should keep in mind about playing in Kim's high-octane system:

Don't think so. Not with 40 (next yr 44) games in a 3 month period. Some teams will, and already do, try to pick up the pace, but full out full game press and run is unlikely to happen. In addition, many have already been surmising that CKC's style is the future of women's basketball. Really? I guess my mileage varies bc I always saw Jewel as bubbly and funny, one of her best traits from the time of her visit. All her coaches and teammates last yr said it. Did you miss all the tik tok dance videos? That started way back in the summer when she and Rickea played for FIBA and clicked immediately. Not the same Jewel we saw last season. She seemed very quiet and reserved, sweet but a bit meek
If you get as many shots/points in 26 minutes, that's better long term to save the wear and tear on your body.I saw when she said that, the problem is these recruits are making decisions now, so they are going off what they see. By the time it changes, they will be off the board so it won’t matter. Nobody played over 26 mins, that’s not ideal for a top player. Juju and Kiki played 40 and 32 mins, these are the type of top players I’m talking about.
And yet each one of these teams have seen multiple transfers over the last 4 years as well as taken them inLet's get this straight...
Players are not going to be transferring often or at all from programs that have players that we need to get over the top and be a top 8 program again!
