I think this is spot on. I have coached quite a few players with this issue over the years. More than any other sport basketball has constantly moving parts and constantly changing variables. You can't pre-program everything that needs to be done on the court during a game. Reacting and adjusting in real time to changing variables is just not something everyone is capable of doing at a high level. She looks great in drills because she does have a very good skill set. She has good size and functional athleticism. But her instincts, awareness and ability to think on-the-fly are just not her strength. That holds her back from what would be a very high ceiling as a player.Yes I was expecting a lot more from her in this type of offense. Thought she could play facing the basket more and show those supposed highly rated skills. If she has injuries its not being reported. Still seems hesitant and slow to me which is not going to work in this style of play.
Next year we will have one 6'4", one 6'2" and a host 6 ftish and below. Your welcome to your own definition of lack of height, but to me that's a severe lack of height. Again, that's something I'm looking forward to watching play out when we get to the real games. Maybe size is actually irrelevant now. That’s the thing, Tennessee doesn’t lack height. 6’5, 6’4, 6’2, and 6’2 is not a lack of height.

As the kids say now days your glazing... Dang! Jump off already! You are insane if you can't remember players like Alexis Dye, Keyen Green and Walker. Rickea was just the icing. Chill out and let it rest. We get it... You're not a fan of Kellie.Totally different. A lot of kids in the portal are leaving a bad situation. I do think Kellie felt like a soft spot to land for those players.
Outside of Jackson I would debate how good our portal recruiting was though. She was really the only major get. We picked up several other serviceable players, but no other stars really.
Several came with a lot of hype but couldn’t deliver, mostly due to injury issues. Franklin, Powell, Walker, Green and Wells were all limited for that reason.
Powell was never disclosed until her career ended but she was apparently playing through a lot of pain which makes her play make more sense.
Seems like that staff was willing to take a chance in that department and support their rehab, maybe due to Kellie’s own experiences. Commendable, but not the best idea in reality.
I honestly don’t see anyone posting on here who is sad about CKC’s successes! Not against it but when PEOPLE try to insinuate that MONEY is the reason why these young women are committing...I'm a give it push back.
See here's the thing...The Pauldo Twins don't really need our NIL because they got plenty already but all they got to do is perform on the court and their brand will take off even more from self promotion. Tennessee isn't throwing out crazy money...just ask Chavez!
NIL has always been there and the platform to promote these young women has been as well. What's been the biggest catch is the STYLE OF PLAY...the sheer freedom that Coach Kim allows players to play with and plus these young women love Coach Kim!
That's the movement you see! Some fans are just sad that Coach Kim & company is getting the job done so they try to immediately attach NIL to their success in recruiting!!
They have a very good recruiterYes I’ve been checking some clips of her this week. Another thing I notice is she is a very quality defender for her height. She can guard on the perimeter, handle the ball and has great lateral quickness. Something volleyball likely really helped her with. There is a lot of really quick side to side movement in volleyball.
Just really think she would suit this system very well and have a lot of opportunities for growth at Tennessee I don’t see her getting at Clemson or NC State.
Wes Moore is a great coach but he isn’t much in the way of player development. Or Alyssa Cunane would be tearing up the WNBA. He’s an Xs and Os schemer who could best you with kids he picked up at the park on the bus ride over.
Poppie is a good coach as well but he isn’t a Kim Caldwell. I can tell you that. Clemson will never be a big name in women’s basketball, it’s just not going to happen. Especially having to compete for in state talent with Dawn.
YesWho all is having a good feeling about Hurst saying yes to Tennessee on Monday? I thought weeks ago, after seeing or reading something here, that of all the hopefuls I felt like Hurst was going to be a Lady Vol. They love 'em some Lady Vols up in Cleveland, Tenn., where Lauren is from. I feel it in my bones!
Then you’re a idiot…
No one takes digs… just not down with all of fluff!!! We have serious defensive flaws and wrong combo of players on the floor!!!!I most certainly am not, but I love that you went there. Shows your level of maturity. Anyone who reads your post history can see what you’re up to.
You went scorched earth, took your call and went home. Now you want to crawl back with the success but take a dig every chance you get.
We don't know that for sure still the portal and Hurst is 6'3" Plus we have no clue which of the current players will leave in the portal after this season. The sad thing about basketball now is everyone is a one year player at any school if they so desire.Next year we will have one 6'4", one 6'2" and a host 6 ftish and below. Your welcome to your own definition of lack of height, but to me that's a severe lack of height. Again, that's something I'm looking forward to watching play out when we get to the real games. Oh, nooo!!!!Lmao I was about to share this but I was going to say
“The fact that she predicted her to UT almost certainly means she is going somewhere else.” That girl is almost always wrong lmao.
