Now that ESD is over and we know who we've signed (we've signed Sanders, publicly announced or not), this is what we look like heading into next season. I've removed Keith and Lang, as they've portaled. Don't pay too much attention to where a guy is on the depth chart at this point. This is just a shot in the dark guess that will obviously change in Spring and Fall practice. I defaulted freshmen to the bottom of the chart with a few exceptions like Sanders and Campbell who should push for PT early.

So we sit at 91 scholarship players. We are capped at 83, due to sanctions. We will need to lose 8 more just to get to that number, and that's before we add from the portal. I'm guessing we add 6-7, so we'll need to lose 14-15 total from what we have today.

@LWSVOL please let me know if I'm missing anyone or if someone I have listed as a scholarship player isn't on scholarship. To the best of my knowledge Bishop and Gilbert still are non-scholarship, but maybe I'm wrong.

This chart also presumes that a) Sampson declares for the NFL, b) Karic wins his medical RS appeal, c) Eason and Bailey both return for their final seasons of eligibility.

Edit: NM. I skimmed right over this part. Havent finsihed my coffee yet. Karic is not guaranteed a roster spot. He will need to appeal last season (played 5 snaps in his 5th game) and get a medRS to come back.

True on the walk-ons. Nothing jumps out to me but roster still fluid for next couple weeks. Going to be more portal entries.

Depends on if Banks stays
Not much. There is a ton of depth and talent on that roster. Banks and crew get credit for development. There are better gameplanners and playcallers out there.

There's always a possibility that UT could hire a guy who isn't a fit. There's also a good possibility that UT could upgrade.

It will be interesting to see who they pursue in the portal. I would assume an OT, OG, and DT or two will be the focus.
Definitely both sides of the line. CJH has picked up a WR every year he has been here. I wouldn't be surprised if we lose a couple of WRs and pick up at least one more. CJH has also had great success at DT, expect that to continue. Maybe pick up a Moore type QB who is more interested in going into coaching and learning from CJH than playing elsewhere.

If Banks leaves, his replacement will be the biggest hire of Heupel's tenure thus far.

The good news is, a) he's not limited to hiring a guy who can coach "his system," as he is on offense, and b) that will be a VERY DESIRABLE position. Coaches will be lining up for that job. It pays well, the cupboard is stocked with talent, and you have autonomy because Heupel is an offensive minded coach. It's a perfect stepping stone to a head coaching job...kind of like how Spurrier's DC always was at Florida.

I have faith that Heupel will make a good hire.

He may just promote the the linebackers coach... He likes to keep things in house. Who knows what he will do, but it is an important hire regardless.

When you look at it like that… we thought our OL was lackluster this year. Oh boy.
Those if us who actually have a clue and know football know how good the OL is. So does the Joe Moore award committee, who named UT a semi-finalist for the top OL in college football. I guess being a top 10 OL means they were lackluster since they didn't make the top 3 finalists.

It will be better next year.

Yeah it looks like we gotta rebuild the entire OL with the exception of LT. The rest of the roster is a playoff roster.
I'm excited to see what Sham will do. He has been close two years in a row now.

Perry and Grant have been lauded by Hubbs so much that I assumed they would get more snaps this year and will have plenty of opportunities next.

Satterwhite jumping Lang kinda speaks to his ability.

LJ3 looked decent when pressed into action and could be the favorite at RT with a good offseason. I think he might need to lose some weight. He's a biggun.

Cautious optimism, but they could end up being solid, esp if DSanders signs and comes in ready to put his nose to the grindstone.
