2025 Roster As It Stands on Dec 5, 2024

- Reddick hit the transfer portal
- Duncan might have to move to guard 😊
- I think Smith will eventually flank Carter. He did the same thing Grayson where he just improved each season. He’s doing the same at Tennessee now. He’ll close the gap more between himself and Arion Carter. Still very high on Spillman too, but Harmon will be right there imo.
- Merritt may play CB. I think that’s his money making opportunity. And I think he sub plants J Matthew’s.
-Brame and Doserheuehe will pass Cole Harrison imo.
- Charles probably starts beside Turrentine but Jacobe will still basically be a starter. Jordan Thomas can he stay healthy? Can Salughter finally put it together?

Lot of these guys will be gone after the spring. Because they will miss the transfer portal window for December staying on the team during the playoffs.

I'm excited to see what Sham will do. He has been close two years in a row now.

Perry and Grant have been lauded by Hubbs so much that I assumed they would get more snaps this year and will have plenty of opportunities next.

Satterwhite jumping Lang kinda speaks to his ability.

LJ3 looked decent when pressed into action and could be the favorite at RT with a good offseason. I think he might need to lose some weight. He's a biggun.

Cautious optimism, but they could end up being solid, esp if DSanders signs and comes in ready to put his nose to the grindstone.
Yea I think I just have fear of the unknown. I need to see them as a group. That alone would make me search for better options and let them all compete

Are you sure the follow have eligibility, how so?

-Karic
-Bailey
-Eason

Also, it wouldn’t be a shocker if Joseph’s entered the draft

Defense has a shot to be elite again. If the o line can gel we will be back in the playoffs. We finally have quality depth all over the field

Karic will appeal for a medical redshirt, since he only played a few plays over in 2023.

Bailey and Eason both have another year due to Covid.

If Banks leaves, his replacement will be the biggest hire of Heupel's tenure thus far.

The good news is, a) he's not limited to hiring a guy who can coach "his system," as he is on offense, and b) that will be a VERY DESIRABLE position. Coaches will be lining up for that job. It pays well, the cupboard is stocked with talent, and you have autonomy because Heupel is an offensive minded coach. It's a perfect stepping stone to a head coaching job...kind of like how Spurrier's DC always was at Florida.

I have faith that Heupel will make a good hire.

Hope he will hire a high quality coach that he is not a close friend to. Got enough "quasi" nepotism already.

Now that ESD is over and we know who we've signed (we've signed Sanders, publicly announced or not), this is what we look like heading into next season. I've removed Keith and Lang, as they've portaled. Don't pay too much attention to where a guy is on the depth chart at this point. This is just a shot in the dark guess that will obviously change in Spring and Fall practice. I defaulted freshmen to the bottom of the chart with a few exceptions like Sanders and Campbell who should push for PT early.

So we sit at 91 scholarship players. We are capped at 83, due to sanctions. We will need to lose 8 more just to get to that number, and that's before we add from the portal. I'm guessing we add 6-7, so we'll need to lose 14-15 total from what we have today.

@LWSVOL please let me know if I'm missing anyone or if someone I have listed as a scholarship player isn't on scholarship. To the best of my knowledge Bishop and Gilbert still are non-scholarship, but maybe I'm wrong.

This chart also presumes that a) Sampson declares for the NFL, b) Karic wins his medical RS appeal, c) Eason and Bailey both return for their final seasons of eligibility.

*non-scholarship

91 on scholarship

Early NFL Draft Entries: Dylan Sampson (Sr.), James Pearce, Jr. (Sr.)

McCoy is the probable punt return specialist for 2025 and I would like to see Matthews be the kickoff return specialist next season to get the ball in his hands more often.

Did Bailey and Eason Redshirt? If it is related to COVID, Mays, Spraggins and Omari were also part of the 2020 class and would have a 5th year correct?

Reddick and grant should hit the portal
I don't get why people say this. Unless you know you're guaranteed to pull an upgrade in the portal, they should be big, strong 4th year players in the system next year. If nothing else, having that as your 2nd string is what you want.

If Bailey, Eason and Moi are really coming back then we don't need DT's in the portal. We have a wealth of Defensive Lineman. I think Bailey, West and Jenkins can play some reps inside and go with essentially 2 Edge in certain situations, like we did this year. Josephs, Ross, Herring are all good for that. We are losing our only 2 natural Nose Tackles in Simmons and Thomas (both Pruitt recruits, by the way). I've always wondered if that was by design, because we didn't recruit replacements for them? Has Coach Banks wanted to go with smaller, more athletic D-line all along?

Moi should be back, however I am very skeptical about Eason and Bailey having eligibility remaining. Regardless, we have recruited well on the DL and should be stout next year, it would be great to get another Interior guy from the portal.

My biggest Roster concerns are 1. O-Line 2. Safety and then the emergence of playmakers at WR and RB (assuming Sampson is long gone).

Not much. There is a ton of depth and talent on that roster. Banks and crew get credit for development. There are better gameplanners and playcallers out there.

There's always a possibility that UT could hire a guy who isn't a fit. There's also a good possibility that UT could upgrade.
I would take Stoops in a heartbeat should he be released from UK!

Eason and Bailey have eligibility remaining.

I’m not sure why anyone is worried about Moi. He’s a junior.

Just curious, how many Pruitt recruits will be on the roster next year? And if we win a championship, should be put a McDonald's bag in the trophy case?

Beginning with the 2025-26 academic year, I think the scholarship limit increases to 105.
That is what is anticipated or projected to happen, although that and other specifics of the lawsuit settlement negotiations have not been finalized.
