The money is there. The main challenge is not every player is a fit for Barnes’ coaching style and personality.

Anybody who has sat close enough to the floor behind the bench knows that Barnes is hard on those kids. You can hear him lay into them all night. The kids who come here have to be pretty tough and not a diva to play under him.

Also Barnes cares more about the kids character and relationship with Christ than he does about winning championships. Don't get me wrong, he cares A LOT about winning. However, he won’t sacrifice his core values just to get anybody in here to win. The kids who come here have to be humble, coachable, and willing to listen. He doesn’t force you to be a Christian to play here, but he certainly talks to all of them about their faith.

my buddy is like the Nevin Shapiro for Clemson basketball. He works for Apple out in California but is a huge Clemson booster specifically for the basketball team. He has wild and crazy parties with the players, I bet he has Horace Grant on speed dial

My buddy’s like the John Ruiz for Clemson, the last party was a masquerade yacht party where all the patrons were required to wear rec specs out respect for Horace Grant.

They still have a budget north of 5 million. They will spend money.

If we can land both Gillespie and McKneely, we will be the only team with two guys ranked in the top 10.

Gillespie is ranked 7th overall.
McKneely is ranked 9th overall.

I would love to have a stretch 4 who can consistently hit mid range, can occasionally stretch out to 3 and still get to basket. One of my favorite players in this mold is Brakefield from Ole Miss.

Would love a guy like that on our roster. Idk who in the portal fits that style.

I think Brazile from Arkansas would fit best for us. With his motor Barnes would have him a defensive beast in no time, too.
He really impressed me a lot in the last several games of the season.
I'd take Brakefield in a second, tho.

I’m just interested to see how they rebuild this roster. It’s a good start IF we can land McKneely and Gillespie. Would like to see some wings and slashers come in for some visits soon too. The difference between this year and last year is that we knew we had some great players coming back in Zeigler and Mashack. We have decent players coming back now in Okpara, Phillips, and Estrella(hopefully) and a role player in Boswell. We HAVE to get the right guys to lead this team back to the tournament next year, and hopefully we can make it a step further. Just gotta get the right parts to construct this team.
