2026 recruiting

Top players typically have lots of well-meaning people -- several coaches, family, friends -- in their ears making comments and giving them advice. Some of them, I'd guess, are telling these kids that they don't want to play in a system in which they don't get to play the full game and may not be able to get into a rhythm because after two minutes their time is up until their next two-minute shift.

Our players are finding tremendous success (I think) in this system, but I can almost guarantee you there are folks out there trying to convince players Kim's system would be bad for them.

As anyone who has ever been a teen-ager knows, young people are often overly influenced by misinformation, which is rampant in the recruiting world.

The hope I have is that this year's Lady Vols make deep runs in the post-season tournaments so that the top players will see for themselves that it IS a system and coach they could be successful in.
I agree 💯!!! we need a sweet 16 result to prove that it would work to get the 2026’s then we need to maintain the success and the pipeline will be built. Maybe send a player or two to the wnba this season to market as well. But you are right…. Aau coaches and award voters or people that think they know sh— will be saying negative stuff l…Lazo already mentioned it in a tweet a few months ago. Remembe??

This coaching staff is very strategic and intentional.
They signed arguably the top transfer portal and high school classes in 7 months.
Coach Caldwell admitted that it wasn’t necessarily expected although they connected instantly with the recruits and so did the current players.
Honestly, I believe chances are they already have a feel for what the upcoming transfer portal and next year’s 2026 class will need to look like.
Players want to play at Tennessee, and what I’ve been impressed with is how highly the parents and relatives speak of TN. Top college and high school players have Rocky Top as their top designation.
Seeing 10,000 fans packed in Barclays Center as the the new era LVs won a nationally televised game over a ranked team with the Pauldo twins and their family decked out in LV gear amongst LVFLs is why UT is 1 of 1.
It’s chess not checkers. GBO!
The transfer portal will have some big time scorers come out. Just watch

I don't see us getting a trad big like Tamari Key, we would be pursuing those in the mold of Brink. I'd also like to know if we have any leads on that type of player.
McKenna W would have been that player…. She has picked up tons awards over christmas

Nope, I didn't see that -- I no longer have a Twitter (X) account -- but I'm not surprised. For as long as there have been players being recruited this has been the case. Unfortunately, many a young person has taken bad advice from outside forces and ended up regretting it later. 😔

Do you see a traditional big coming our way next class?

I don’t think it matters if the player(s) will be the traditional post player or a forward 6’4+ in the post. Coach Caldwell, Coach Lazo, and Coach Tubner are targeting players that will play defense, rebound, and are versatile on offense.

We are after the Olivia's although one spells her name Oliviyah. We land those two with what we have already brought in 25 class we should be cutting nets. They're both big, can play back to basket or step out to the three and knock it down. Think one of the two is slam dunking the ball already with ease. They are both going to be amazing on any team they land and we need to hope that team is Tennessee. Add Harping to those two and we have the number1 class in 26.

I KNOW she is leaning that way, but I also know there areother players in the field
Don't make a statement until it IS a statement of fact, not assumption
Natalya coud very easily play in our new format as it is built on defensive pressure, shooting 3's and attacking on drives.

But with the "wonder twins" coming in we have under-6' beasts already and don't have as much need of her,,,I am sure this is why she is not being actively recruited for TN. And I do know she was on the staff's radar before they got here

Madi Hawk could have played for Kellie bc she was a half-court defender and gunner,,,but for Kim's system, absolutely NOT,,,no argument here

I agree. But…i think we wouldn’t turn away elite bigs who have fundamentals and are dedicated to running the floor.

I said I would not say who it was bc of you and meant it
The only players from TN that should be actively recruited by the staff is the Ayers kid and Hassell imo

No "new",,,not maddie, I was answering my friend @GameTime 's Q

Coach, what ever happened to Matty, at least I believe her first name was Matty, can't remember her last name...She is the young girl you had worked with that coach Harper was not interested in, but she looked great to a lot of us....By now I believe she should be a junior somewhere.

Looks like Roman Tubner deserves the credit for taking the lead on THIS fantastic recruit. WHAT A PLAYER! Oh how I hope she liked what she saw today enough to quickly decide to just go ahead and commit to the great Tennessee Lady Vols!

Regardless of what she decides, it was a great thing that Roman was able to get her on campus and willing to give Tennessee a fair shake.

Good stuff.
