I know some of our fans (and many fan bases) always point to money when we unexpectedly miss on a recruit.
I usually don’t want to go there.
But when somebody as well respected and with so many real connections like AV says it, I take notice.
Wish it could be evaluated by an independent source. Basketball really needs a czar to clean it up. Even someone like former Dukie Jay Bilas.

You're not. Blake is a different level of athlete compared to Paolo, but wasn't nearly as polished as Paolo at that age either.

I think Blake's modern game is a good comparison, considering he doesn't rely on his freak athletic ability like he once did.

I thought he we be clad in orange and probably SEC player of the year. I'm crushed. Coach K going all out for one more ring before he retires, no matter what it costs

He’d be better suited joining a team with experience. Duke rarely has that.

That was not wildly unrealistic. Chandler just committed to UT, Payne left UK and the recent Duke virtual visit was widely considered a disappointment. It's called logic

Yeah, anyone who thought Duke wasn't a threat in this race wasn't paying attention. BTO and I both predicted that Duke was probably the co-leader with Tennessee just a couple days ago. Kentucky would have been right there, too, if not for the sudden loss of Payne. Thus was always about exposure for him, which is why I always hedged against our odds because despite holding Chandler as our ace in the hole, we still can't provide the exposure that Duke or UK could have, and I always believed that may be difficult to overcome for us.

Someone predicted that, and that was unrealistic. Even 4 of those 5 was unrealistic. And you, even self-admittedly, are overly positive with your predictions.

He really is, though. He's not Zion, no, but Zion is a once in 10 years type player, so that isn't really a knock on Banchero.

Yeah I don't understand people who start to immediately discount a recruit's talent if we miss on them. Banchero is really, really, really good. It sucks. We missed on him, but that doesn't make him any less awesome. Let's not be Kentucky fans.

I know. I posted they were a bigger threat than most think right before
At least it's done now, and Barnes and company have plenty of time to focus on other targets.

No biggie and I am overly optimistic, but this time it was only towards Banchero

I said a week ago that my dream class was Chandler, Banchero, Smith, Houstan, and Maschack, but it wasn't a serious prediction. It was just talking off the cuff about what would be an ideal class. The ideal class never happens though. So now we pivot with Banchero off the board. Hopefully we've still got momentum with some of our other recruits.
