'21 WA PF Paolo Banchero (Duke Commit)

He just seems kinda close to the chest and with KC not caring for the Duke environment, I thought it may not have appealed to PB either. I’d bet $$ that he doesn’t do KY tho
It was Banchero that they said that about the Duke environment, not Chandler. Also only heard that from one place so I wouldn’t put too much stock into that.

For a guy wanting exposure and to enjoy “the big scene” playing on the west coast doesn’t really provide that, and even though Gonzaga plays some teams OOC playing in the WCC isn’t going get him much national exposure.

Yeah I don't think he is staying out west. The PAC-12 is hot garbage in basketball right now outside of 2-3 teams and no one watches PAC-12 basketball. Gonzaga has a few OOC games that are interesting each year, but that's about it. I'm fairly confident that it's a Tennessee/Kentucky/Duke battle. It would be a surprise if he chose one of the other three.

I have heard some very positive news on this guy as of last week. At this point seems we should land him...not a done deal like KC was but certainly heading that way. Will report back if I get word that it is really done.

I think it's kinda funny that Swan and AV both just gave super positive info and people are still like "nahh I'm skeptical." Laughable.

I mean, to be fair, we're swimming in the waters of a recruit that we haven't seen since the Bernard King era. I can understand why people are skeptical that Banchero will land here. Tennessee is not typically a program that is even under consideration for someone like Banchero, which speaks to the job that Barnes has done so far.

Without a damn doubt. However, between VQ and VN, these are the two dudes with the most info and both are being extremely positive about our chances. I'm not going to count him as a future Vol just yet, but I'm also happy to roll with the positivity until something changes.

I think it definitely adds to reason for optimism, but it’s also not like Banchero has set a date for next week. Still lots of time for the tide to change, think that’s you don’t see people counting him in the boat.

I believe that we are leading rn, but that doesn’t mean I’m not going to be worried he won’t change his mind until he decides. Like BTO said, there’s not even a decision date yet

Meyer logs a prediction for Banchero to UT

In case you want a good laugh. Most of the UK fans are overly optimistic about landing him and are laughing off Barnes like he hasn't had a record at reeling in numerous 5 stars and developing a ton of guys and getting them into the league. They seem to think that our only chance with Banchero is because we got Chandler lol. A lot of them do think that losing coach Payne might hurt them with Banchero though.

One of the first posts on the thread (post #3) says this is proof kids like Banchero just don't want to compete for titles. LOL. If Banchero and Chandler team up with potentially Maschack and Smith as well as guys like Vescovi, Bailey, JJJ/Springer, and Walker Jr. that lineup is as scary as any in the country. If Kentucky fans don't think that is a team that can compete for a title they are delusional.

UT will compete for titles this year and I'm including a National Championship. Next year, when UT lands Banchero to go along with Chandler and a couple more top 40 guys, we may be THE FAVORITE

If they dont think we can compete for titles but they can, then why did they let a skinny East Tennesse floppy haired boy put up 27 on them and beat them in Rupp? UK is the worst
They had no answer for Fulky. He was scoring at will on them. They actually let three different players try and guard him and no one could. It was great

“Can we just start paying players like other schools yet?” 😂😂😂 the lack of self awareness on that board never ceases to amaze me

I wasn't bothered by the "Coach K is prioritizing Banchero" comment. I mean if you're not prioritizing arguably the best prospect in the class are you really doing your job? No. Kentucky literally only offered Kennedy Chandler as their 2021 PG and made him a priority and we saw how that ended up.
Yeah, and to your point about him covering his bases. Kind of a meaningless statement

They ought to be scared to death. If Barnes can develop 3 stars like Fulky, Grant, and Admiral to school them imagine what he can do with this new crop of 5 stars.

The best quote on here "Barnes has 1 Final Four in his long career and he is going to win a title led by 3 Freshmen?" ...

They have no clue what our roster will even look like. They think that just because they get a new team every year that we do too. It'd be Chandler/Banchero (maybe a Jabari) ... then the rest a bunch of upper classman that have been developed in a Coach Barnes system for 2-4 years.

I don't think Washington or Arizona are really all that in this hunt. It seems like Evans is just covering his bases and talking about each finalist. Lately, most of the smoke has been around Tennessee, Kentucky, and Gonzaga. I hope this thing doesn't drag out till next summer, but who knows.
But if it does he’ll get to see us show out this year (hopefully 😒)

Wow. Seems so weird. Every analyst I saw talked about him taking his time, not to mention the report about him not enjoying Duke and us having some momentum. Dang. Least it’s not Kentucky
