Talked to BJ Edwards tonight after he and his mother spent all day on campus with the team and coaching staff.
Edwards watched a practice, hung out in the locker room/lounge area for a few hours and got to see some different things on campus.
He told me that he spent virtually the entire day with Rick Barnes. The two obviously know each other and Edwards has been around the team quite a bit but this is the most one-on-one time he's had with the head coach by far and he clearly enjoyed. Edwards mother seems very comfortable around the coaching staff and it seems fair to reason that she'd like to see her son stay close when there's such a high quality hometown option.
Des Oliver had been Edwards' lead recruiter before taking the ETSU job but he said that he and new assistant Rod Clark had very quickly developed a good relationship.
Edwards also has good relationships with a lot of the current guys on the team as a result of playing pick-up with them many, many times over the years.
He's going to Wake Forest next week and is going to set up visits with Virginia Tech and Florida before returning to Tennessee for an official at the end of the month.
It also sounds like this one won't even go into the fall. Edwards said that he may wrap things up and make a decision after his AAU season ends in July.
At this point I'd be shocked if Edwards doesn't end up in Orange.
