It's what happened to them last year against Wisconsin. Had lots of open looks, but they weren't falling. Given a second chance this March, I definitely think they'll do better.
Final line- Belmont shoots only 38% from the field, 30% from 3.
Memphis has 7 steals, 7 blocks and forces 18 TOs.
Great team D and game plan by the coaching staff to get a 16 point win over a team that received top 25 votes in the latest poll.
Tigers looked like a much more mature team compared to last year. Much props to Belmont. They've got a deceptively solid frontcourt.
Sorry but I totally disagree of your defensive gameplan assessment. Memphis won because they shot the ball better period. Great athletes that shot the ball better than they will thru out the year IMO. Gameplan wasn't a factor on their behalf.

Speaking of gameplans, I was rather disappointed in one aspect of Byrd's coaching today:
Why play up and down with Memphis? I understand that depth, pressure and transition offense are the strengths of Belmont's team, but Memphis obviously had Belmont beat in each of those areas. Why did Byrd continue to try to run after the half? Why not limit possessions and make Memphis' athletes a moot point?
