#25 Missouri vs #7 Georgia (Noon - ESPN)

Not from the Mizzou fans I know. They've had more bball success but unlike Kentucky I believe they'd rather be better at football.

Correct. Fan-wise, from what I've understood while I was in St. Louis they're school that would rather be better at football (which has been up and down...it was really down in the 80s) but basketball has been the more successful program

Don't make excuses for UGA. They still could have won this game today

Missouri scouted them well at our game last week -- the DBs were ready for Murray -- even with Gurley back they wont beat UF --- excuses aside -- will Richt be on the hot seat now ?

QB James Franklin is likely out next week said coach Gary Pinkel

After the game, coach Gary Pinkel said Franklin's shoulder was separated and the senior would likely be out for a while. Missouri, now squarely in the thick of the SEC East race, plays South Carolina next week and Florida the week after, both at home.

ESPN/the AP messed up that write-up though; it's UF first and then USCe

As a Vol fan just losing to Georgia, do we want the dawgs to lose or do we want them to show everybody Missouri is overrated. However, so far Missouri seems to be legit. You could say they look this good because of Georgia's injuries but then that would seem to take away from what we did last week.

From a Vol fan who has lived in Georgia for 26.5 years, I am very happy about Missouri's win today.

Word is now that James Franklin is gone for at least 6 weeks, maybe more. Separated shoulder, grade 2.

What a terrible way for your senior season to end

And how unfortunately typical for a mid-level team to have something like this happen while they're playing really well.

So I guess the question now is, was the win worth it?

I think they'll still take it. They needed to pull something like this not to be a laughing stock Carolina was for 10 years as being the Arkansas' +1 to the dance. They still would have a tough road to win the east with James Franklin so that may have not happened anyway. But at least they may have put to rest some of the "not real SEC team" talk and can point to this to recruits. This is the signature type win that we waited for Dooley to get, think Dooley would have traded Bray's pro-career for a win over Florida last year? I do.

Well they are bowl eligible, so I would guess it was worth it - the backup was a highly touted recruit, wasnt he ?

What I meant was, from what we saw of the backup today, that could be a difference between what's now possibly a 7-8 win season at best (presuming he doesn't come back until after the A&M game)

and what could have been an 8 win season at worst, possibly more (maybe 9-10...I'm not sure how to peg them versus A&M who's defense is somewhat UGA like; I figured they might beat SC though)

The recruits honestly are going to more look at the end product in a year or two unless they continually upset teams like this

3 star I think yes.

But he's a redshirt freshman, and based off of what we saw today, they're not comfortable at all with the idea of him throwing the ball at this point.

Plus he has no game experience; we saw him get confused by the defense one of these plays and spend so much time trying to audible correctly that they had to call a timeout.

They will beat Kentucky at least(who couldn't), so no worse than 7-5, and Ole Miss, despite being a road game for Mizzou is also a very winnable game as well. It's also far enough out that hopefully by then their backup QB can hopefully get more comfortable at the position.

USCe, Florida, and TA&M I really don't know, though I'm leaning toward loss territory for Mizzou.

Then there is UT. Improved though UT may be, Mizzou is still somewhat better than last year even without James Franklin on the field, IMO, to say nothing of the home field advantage. Before today I had them at 5-3 going into the UT game, looking to try to beat us again to try and become bowl eligible. Now that they've beat two SEC teams, are setting at 6-0 with bowl eligibility guaranteed, it may not help them but it certainly doesn't hurt to have the monkey off their back in terms of shooting for a bowl game.

Despite loosing Franklin, the win today and where they're sitting both in the SEC and overall will be a major morale booster in and of itself.
