It was a tepid response with no ownership of the brawl. "Oh well we've never had any problems before today." I wonder if that line would work on a judge? "I hadn't assaulted anyone before today." Eh. He clearly felt it wasn't his problem and it wasn't anything worth commenting on. But that's how he feels about most of football, from what I've seen of him. He cares but he doesn't care _that_ much.
Dude is the Bill Murray of football coaches.

What a disgrace, he just blew that interview 🤨 what is going through this guys mind to say that fight didn’t bother him and he didn’t mind. That’s embarrassing. Wait until he sees his player stomp on the guy laying on the ground that doesn’t even have a helmet on.

Leach is an idiot. His responses to the fight were weak. Glad he is not our coach

I don't think he was aware of that at the time of the interview. You and most on this board are quick to judge and jump all over someone WITHOUT KNOWING ALL THE FACTS!!! I do think he should have been pissed at his team for not walking away and showing more restraint. But, it looks like a few Tulsa players are the ones that went crazy and started the brawl in the first place!!! However, that never gives players the right to try and kick someone in the face and seriously harm another!!!!!

Sore losers! Just following the example set by their coach.

Yep. It's hard to tell how that started, but most of the cheap shots were coming from Miss State. Leach needs to take stock. That was ugly.

Good response, I agree. He wasn't going to let the reporter get him to talk about the brawl. He doesn't ever show much emotion at all. But, he should have been pissed his team didn't restrain themselves, especially the coward that kicked the Tulsa player and ran!

Not his style. Probably have one of his assistants scold them behind close doors.

I think what this really shows is that bowl games are largely unpredictable. Aside from the playoffs where both teams are fully engaged, trying their hardest. Outside of that, bowl games are a crap shoot.

Second, I think it shows that undefeated, -1, and -2 loss teams in the Group of 5 conferences are NOT comparable to the better teams in the Power 5 conferences. And should rarely be ranked. Far more rarely than they are, these days. It's sort of like thinking an undefeated woman's team should be ranked among the top 25 men teams in basketball or tennis.

But sure, third after those two considerations, it also means the SEC is super tough and awesome. Just squint when you glance at yesterday's Florida-Oklahoma score, or you might reach a different conclusion.

Good points, as much as I didn't want to root for UF. I do root for SEC teams in the bowls. But, after I knew they would get the L, I was hoping Florida would lose by 60, LOL. OU kicked UF's azz! I know UF was without pretty much their entire WR core and ELITE TE. But, OU dominated every phase of the game. I would love to have Lincoln Riley as HC at UT. One can only dream!!!

Lot of these guys grew up with brawling a part of life. Leach summed it up pretty well. No guns. No knives. Could have been worse. It is what it is. To get your fill of sissy angst just watch ESPN announcers the rest of the night wring out their hankies.
That was not ok. Its just a bad look for the University. Call people sissies all you want. Lol

It is a bad representation of the schools. For all the talk about these guys making money and profiting from amateur sports, in real life many would get arrested or fired by the HR department.

If this was Pruitt and the Vols, people would be crying this is another reason to fire Pruitt.

A good answer would've been, "I'm not sure what exactly happened until I see the film but we don't tolerate this type of behavior in our program. We expect to represent Miss State University with high character in all we do".

This is football! Things are not always gonna be pretty. Even Soccer is infamous for its brawls.

Congratulations to the MSU Bulldogs, Mike Leach!!! For those on here whining that (a 3-7 SEC) UT team didn't deserve a bowl game. What do you think about 3-7 MSU beating a top 25 6-2 team. Yes, it was Tulsa. But, they were 6-2 and top 25!!!

He just wasted lots of credibility by allowing his team to get involved in the brawl. Want to hear the details though. The fact MSU was on the other teams sideline looks bad, but could be reasons. Was not impressed with his statements about it after the game. Jury is still out.
