Insane stat from Saturday

Something started to sink in for me yesterday. In 2022, we played a great game, at least offensively.

On Saturday, Bama was just outclassed. Take the mullet A off that uniform in your mind for a moment. Pretend that it was Cackalacky or Kentucky we were playing. The pattern of the game is one where a team that is overmatched punches above their weight for a while, gets some breaks, but can’t capitalize. Then eventually the cream rises to the top. Second half was 24-10. First half could’ve easily been 24-14 or so in our favor.

Really hopeful that the second half was a turning point and not just a one off for Nico and the offensive line.

Bama could have scored way more in the first half too, can't talk about the score without our missed opportunities and not give them credit for theirs as well.

Bama threw 2 “50-50” balls in the end zone. They won one, lost one.
Milroy would have a scored if Brooks didn't shoestring him. We may have if Sampson didn't fumble, etc....

We could do If's all day, fact is those things either didn't or did happen and can't be changed. Dwelling on what it's is unproductive

Tennessee made two turnovers in the red zone. If Bama “could have” on their turnover, Vols “could have” on theirs.

We definitely looked like we were just as good or better than them. If both teams played a clean game (neither did) we win by 2-3 scores.

Ridiculous take. First half could have also been a 3 score deficit in favor of Bama. This is definitely a weakened Bama team but this was a tightly contested game throughout. Bama led deep into the 4th quarter.

Bama ran almost 80 offensive plays, yet the Vols defense was still stopping the run and bringing pressure in the 4th quarter. The depth of the D-line is incredible, depth is best I can remember them ever having.
how much would you bet that most upper SEC teams start emulating this with their DL and playing as many (good) DLinemen as possible.
