It was a joke. There is no “interception thumbs up signal” when intercepting a pass. It was a jab at negavols claiming that Willie didn’t teach technique last year. It’s evident when one looks at the stats and compares the talent and experience levels to the outcomes. Better yet, ask the teams we have played this year and ask their coaches why their offenses are having so many problems with our interceptions and fumbles caused.
LOL. If Aunt Maude had balls she would be Uncle Claude. We fumbled and later threw an interception deep in Alabama territory on drives where we were moving the ball at will. We had 3 or 4 plays where a receiver was running wide open behind the defense and Nico just overthrew him. We kicked a field goal on a 4th and 3 that we may well have picked up and went on to score.
Alabama had near misses too, sure, but not nearly as many as we did. If they had hit theirs and we had hit ours we would have won by 3 touchdowns or more. Our defense dominated their offense. Our offense stopped itself.
Kind of the reverse of last year actuallySomething started to sink in for me yesterday. In 2022, we played a great game, at least offensively.
On Saturday, Bama was just outclassed. Take the mullet A off that uniform in your mind for a moment. Pretend that it was Cackalacky or Kentucky we were playing. The pattern of the game is one where a team that is overmatched punches above their weight for a while, gets some breaks, but can’t capitalize. Then eventually the cream rises to the top. Second half was 24-10. First half could’ve easily been 24-14 or so in our favor.
Really hopeful that the second half was a turning point and not just a one off for Nico and the offensive line.
