3rd QB being recruited

Seen where our OC is recruiting the decommited Sheriron Jones kid from Florida.
I am all for bringing in 3 QB's in this class if they are of great talent. Hopefully our RB recruiting stays healthy also.
I hear so much talk on young players decommiting and are not happy. Man where is the days of growing Into a player.
Any way, thought on the above?
If you read about this topic in that thread, then why did you feel the need to create another thread just to go over the very same thing?

I have no issue signing the 2 EE's who are committed. Signing the 3rd QB to one class is IMO the problem. Would I trade the 2 committed guys for Jones? No. If being greedy costs UT QD & JJ, I'll just have to laugh and shake my head.

Do you want QD or JJ to RS? They really both need it.

Peterman is terrible and I would bet QD, JJ or Jones are better than he is.

So let's say we don't get Jones and Dobbs gets injured. We have all seen what happens when NP plays. So then if QD or JJ RS, Butch only has one option to choose from.

What's wrong with having more options? You just can't stand the fact that the coaches MAY think Jones is the better QB and may want him.

Why all the hate on Peterman? Another year of experience will do wonders for him, just as it did for Dobbs. Peterman has more potential than most are giving him credit for. A little more s&c and studying play book will pay big dividends. Don't give up on him just yet.

No hate.

Quality guy. Not an SEC QB. Neither am I. It doesn't make us bad people

He has shown literally nothing to make anyone think otherwise.

I don't hate him. Just stating some facts. He has yet to show even a hint that he can even remotely be an SEC level QB.

Taking three QBs in the same class is not a good idea. I would put money on one transferring when he gets on campus. We should go after Chad Kelly if we want QB #3.

I don't see us landing Jones. I've interviewed Dormady and the kid is all Vol IMO. Jennings is the in state wonder that has worked his tail off to be an EE along with Dormady. Sheriron is not an EE and I expect that once Jennings and Dormady both keep their commitment to UT and enroll in January, Jones looks elsewhere.

What a great scenario if the staff can pull three quality high school QB's that are not divas and want to compete.

If Peterman is your best backup you may not have a choice. Likely that kid is gone/transferring out. We need one of these three to be a backup for Dobbs next season. The other two will red shirt. Any of these kids are going to face competition wherever they land and most likely any of the places they land will have stiffer competition for them to be the man at QB.

I've said something similar. IF....IF....Peterman is indeed going to transfer(been confirmed by no one), than a Juco makes sense and could be reasonably explained to the (2) guys committed. Same years to play as Nathan, just a different last name. A Juco with 3 to play 3 would be different. 3rd HS QB in 1 class? Transfers to come. Bank on it.

Over signing a position in a class while it looks good to the fans on NSD, usually does not look so good a year or so down the line. UT took 3 RBs last year and IF the news that Scott is considering a transfer is accurate UT may have just 1 left. They take 3 QBs, I'd expect much the same thing to play out. If they take 3 RBs again this year, I'd expect the same thing to play out. Just stands to reason now a days that talented kids will not just sit and wait their turn. Especially on a 6 win type team.

The more you see kids leaving after just 1 year, the further that team will fall behind. You can't keep investing time in signees just to watch them leave a year later. Yeah, the fans like to see spots open up so they see more commitments, but you'll never get ahead over signing positions and watching them leave a year later.

JMO
Doesn't hurt Ga, lsu, bama, need I go on. You guys act like transferring doesn't happen. We just have been so long from being a normal program that we skyfall too much.

Are any of those 6 win type teams? Obviously not.

Not like GA was a world beater this year genius. Racked up wins in a crap east division.
You're the kind of guy who just wants to complain. When we hired jones we said 2015 is the year. Jones has set it up that next year we should compete for the east. We are on schedule but you just don't want to believe it. Calm down chief every team has transfers. Jones kicks a kid off for hitting a girl and now you complain we only have one out 3 tb. You sound like an idiot for complaining about that. If a few freshmen leave, well alright. We signed 32 so we can afford it.

Yes, every team has transfers. You don't see a lot of kids bailing after just 1 year though. Those schools who over sign positions(3RBs, 3QBs, 4-5 DEs), usually tend to have a lot more transfers. Yeah, let's sign all these guys and they will just sit and wait their turn or after 2 years we will just drop them to make room for the next unknown signee. Looks like those recruits may not be willing to wait around to be dropped. They may just decide to speed up that process.

UT signs 3-4 RBs this year. Write it down, they will be looking elsewhere very quickly. When you have (2) 5* caliber RBs, those 3-4* guys are not just going to HOPE there is an injury that allows them to play at some point. It's just common sense. Sometimes in recruiting fans don't have any.

It's attrition, survival of the fittest, may the best man win kind of thing. If you think what you have isn't going to get it done, you get another. Now, we all know injuries play a part as well as development. Some get it, some don't. The light may not come on for Dormandy. H e may be the next Joey Mathews who knows. Butch isn't sold on any of these guys as "Our Savior" as of yet. He's breeding and weeding. Breeding a healthy competition atmosphere as well as weeding out those who they missed on during evaluations. It will be a better program, but this takes time.

I did not even mention Paulk as a transfer. Obviously that would be the Scott talk going on. Yes, that would leave 1 of 3 RBs signed in 2014.

UT signed 3 DEs in 2014. Hendrix leaves and you have 1 of 3 left already after less than 1 year.

Ignore it if you like, but it is what it is.

Takes a lot more time when kids are gone in less than a year. (For various reasons).

So Butch engineered the Henderson test imbroglio? Do you count that as a transfer due to discontent?

It was actually posted yesterday on here that Henderson's grade situation was put in play so UT could sign another DE this year. I didn't say it, but was posted in a thread yesterday

IMO it was one of those "sprinkle a little sunshine on it" moments.

Maybe you should go be a fan of a team with an "honest" coach that fits your standards?

Wouldn't taking the three best prospects at QB make more sense than just limiting yourself to a Juco solution?

Nah, I love my Vols. I tell myself in time CBJ will realize there is a right way and a wrong way. Once he gets burned a few times, he'll see it. I'm confident of that. He'll see that practicing what he preaches is the way he should be doing things.

:good!:
