It's a fact.

Come up with an argument for why Joni should have won over the SEC regular season champ who's team was picked to finish 4th, but took the title away from the prohibitive pre-season favorite. I'll wait.
Agreed, however that GA. Coach is very good..

Identity politics rears it's ugly head. There was no way that they were going to give this award to a man, and with the attention they were giving to the # of black female coaches in the league, it was obvious that the winner was coming from that pool. It would have been Dawn, but since she underachieved, then Joni had the strongest case amongst that group.

I don’t think that’s the case. Georgia was picked in the preseason by the coaches to finish 9th in the league. They finished 4th. A&M was the preseason 3rd pick. They finished 1st. Georgia far exceeded expectations.

And that trumps winning the SEC regular season title over the overwhelming favorite? I think that the difficulty in moving from 3 (or 4 in AP) to 1 is far, far greater than moving from 8/9 to 4.

If that's the best argument for Joni, I rest my case.

She can say hello all she wants. Key changed the other teams approach with her defense!! Boston didn't have to share minutes like Key did with Kasi. The difference is Boston has been in the league longer, didn't get many crap calls against her!!!
The difference is that Boston had a better season and is a better player and I doubt anyone but a few Lady Vol fans would agree with you that Key is the best center in the league. Key got some recognition and I'm happy for her.

I agree with you but to be fair we all knew A&M was gonna be good
A lot of posters here were saying they wouldn't be that good because of losing Chennedy. Blair had to completely retool the team's offensive identity and did a masterful job of getting his team to play as a cohesive unit and working in a brand new PG into his system.

Boston changed the other teams approach just as much. She had more blocks even if in more minutes per game.

Key's minutes were less not because she had to share minutes but the foul trouble she found herself in in many games. She fouled out of four of them.

Both are Sophomores. Crap calls are in the eye of the partisan beholder.

I call bullsh**might at as well name Coach Yo of Ole Miss "Co" Coach of the year she did manage to win 3 more sec games then last year (won 0 last year)*rolls eyes* poor Gary Blair

What's interesting is what this means for the NCOY award. I'm sure Gary (and Kellie too) is in the running, and I believe that they will be using different criteria than the SEC.

Has a coach won NCOY without winning CCOY before? Any takers on whether or not Joni finishes above either Gary or Kellie in the NCOY votes?
