Have only seen 1 conservative president. Too young to know about Reagan.

George bush 1 lost to Clinton
George bush 2 started a war with 2 countries for no reason. Got votes from Hillary and Biden to go fight in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Donald Trump, as dumb as he is, at least tried to do what he said he was going to do.

You can learn 100x more from reading than simply living during the time in question.

Reagan was a prophet of God in my house. I'm a 40 YO millennial, and I know about Reagan.

I can't even tell which one you are trying to say is the conservative? Conservative can mean a lot of things, but a "real conservative" to me has always meant they are for small government. If we're splitting hairs, I would disqualify all of them. Even Reagan spent like a MF and his foreign policy was aggressive. Interventions and ramping up the war on drugs aren't exactly conservative.

Also, Reagan would be considered a leftist open-border loon today, which doesn't seem very conservative by today's standard.

Reagan authored the majority of Californias handgun/ and background check laws when he was Governor As President he escalated the “war on drugs” and used the CIA to meddle in foreign affairs from Kabul to Managua. If it weren’t for Arthur Laffer and some funny jokes and quotes that he made about Dems, I don’t think history would consider him to be that Conservative.

I'm a bit younger than your listed age range, but I'm a Millennial. I have no memory of Reagan or Bush Sr. First political event I remember was a Clinton bus tour driving by a car show I was at with my family. That would have been the 96 campaign. I thought it was really cool seeing the President in person, even just riding by on a bus waving.

Speaking of Bush Sr., I do vaguely remember a parade post Gulf War. We walked down to the parade route from school with little American flags for the returning troops.

Edit: as I mentioned in another thread, my father was all in on Ross Perot. He made me watch his copious chart infomercial things with him. Guess that was my first political memory. He still brings him up randomly. lol

Biden is so stupid, he makes me feel good inside I'm no longer a democrat. I couldn't imagine blindly supporting a bigot that is so dumb.

Lol, no he didnt.

He didnt check spending. He didnt get Mexico to pay for a wall. He didn't end ACA when all he had to do was some paperwork, are you really trying if you cant fill out a form properly? He didnt drain the swamp. The only things he did, he did through EO, so they got undone by EO.

Trump is a crap person, and a crap president. I cant believe so many "conservatives" fell for his obvious Kardashian President bs.

He added more than a trillion dollars to our DEFICIT, not just total debt, before COVID. And he got even worse in Covid. His response to Covid was the most impactful bad decision by a president in my life time. And ACA cost me at least 250 dollars a month.

If you mean allowing governors to shut their states down, then I agree.

See this is the type of obvious BS conservatives fell for. He didnt just allow governors to do their job, he actively argued AGAINST reopening.

"President Donald Trump on Wednesday said he’d informed Gov. Brian Kemp of Georgia that he “strongly” disagreed with the governor’s decision to begin reopening parts of the state as soon as Friday, a high-profile break from a Republican ally." April 2020.
Trump says he told Kemp: ‘I totally disagree’ with move to reopen Georgia

Putting and leaving Fauci in charge, approving every spending bill to hit his desk were also some Covid failures.

You are right as rain.

The proper response should have been:

This is a respiratory virus. It and it's variants will be highly contagious. There is no stopping it, there is no wishing it away. We have to continue to live our lives and run our economy the best we can and let it cycle through. The vulnerable should take extra precautions the best they can, and all others should be extra cautions around the vulnerable. Do not expose yourself to the vulnerable if you are sick or think you are getting sick. Any state that chooses to shut down will receive no federal funding, and will be sued by the federal government if they shut down for disrupting interstate commerce.

What’s funny is Progressives would agree Trump was horrible during Covid but for different reasons than what Conservatives would say. It wouldn’t be due to the crazy spending and rise of Fauci, which are certainly 2 of the biggest Conservative issues.

Republicans aren't going to end ACA. I remember at one time democrats talked about either ending Medicare Advantage or making cuts to it. Never happened obviously. It looks like both parties came to a compromise.

You're making the drug war claim from an historical perspective. Which is wrong, you have to look at it from being in the 80s, at the present time. America was a much more moral country and people were worried about the dangers of drugs. So it made sense at the time. I bet there are alot of families today who are grieving and wished we did more to fight drugs

I bet there are a lot of families who had a love one do a stretch for a non violent offense thaf wish we had done less. The American government didn’t do anything to relieve the drug problem…… all they did was milititarize the DEA and pick winners and losers among the cartels.

The way we went about the war on drugs it was more about eroding civil liberties, militarizing the police, and seizing assets than it was about reducing drug abuse. Drugs won then and are still winning.

Uhhh...it diesn't make sense if you are a small government conservative who believes in personal freedom, regardless of the decade. Principles shouldn't change just because fears do. Otherwise we can justify everything under the sun.

And neither was Trump going to remove ACA, which is the point. He is no different than any other lying politician, from either side. He barks a nice story on a podium in front of a crowd to get praise and elected. Then he turns into the swamp he had just railed against.
