5 UK players entering the draft.

Anyone acting like Cal will just pick right up where he left off this season is kidding themselves. He will have 5 guys returning (if no one transfers). No matter what kind of class he brings in, he won't be running through the schedule like last year's team did. Next year will be a re-building year for UK and most likely a disappointment for many of the UK fans.

Ok. But anyone who thinks they are going to roll over and die is also kidding themselves. I think they could still win 20 games, without knowing their schedule.

With everyone gone even with Knight and assuming they get Selby it will be a down year next year. They may end up fighting to make tourney rather then fighting for a 1 seed.

Rubbish. This statement is a HOF candidate for the ruhtard section.

I mean really. They are obviously not a 1 seed. But really?

Can Ashley Judd go with them?

While Ashley will always be the #1 girl in all blue hearts, I'm willing to let her go and trade for Laura Bell Bundy (country singer from KY)..... if it brings a title. :)

There is no doubt they're not just going away. However, I have seen some UK fans acting like they could be even better next year.

On the Catspause boards, they're saying that Patterson has not officially declared for the draft. Apparently, he's leaning towards it, but Momma hasn't been completely sold. She must not understand the concept of a lockout. But only Orton, Wall, Bledsoe and Cousins are official, apparently Pat isn't. I can't see him coming back for another year, though if he does, he can be the leading scorer and rebounder at UK...and honestly...that's almost worth coming back for. Almost.

Delusional they are. 2011 is a year to be excited about, however.

no idea what the recruiting class is for next year,,but it needs to be GREAT to be excited for next year after all the lost players.Your kidding yourself if you think other wise.

Their recruiting class is looking to be very good if they can get Knight and/or Selby. However, it is not the type of guys you want to all be your starters next year which is exactly the way it seems to be. They may win near 20 but under the old tourney system they would be fighting for a birth and are not a threat to win it all.

HAHAHAHA. Love it.

How long until Calapari announces he will also join the NBA?

Why would the NBA want him? He hasn't shown any ability to be a good NBA coach. I admit he's been a heck of a pro basketball coach in the NCAA, but he didn't show much with the Nets.

I'm not taking about next year, and I'm not kidding anybody. Pay attention. You obviously know little to none about recruiting, or you would know that UK is setting up for a monster class in 2011. (Not this coming class, but the next). With what will return after the 2010 class added to the 2011 freshmen, it will be another deep roster that can make a good run.

sorry if we don't keep track of all the UK recruiting on a TN board. If your not on probation by then it might work out for ya.

No worries. It just so happens that I keep up with recruiting on just about everyone, especially in the SEC. That way, when I say something I can be confident that its true and not just throwing something out there.

The draft experts say all 5 of them will go in the top 18 picks of the draft. (4 in the top 15) Is it safe to say that KY's team this year was the most 'talented' team ever? Even better than the fab 5? Yet, they also didn't win a national title.

Callipari should become recruiting coordinator and let someone else take over the X's and O's. It is inexcusable that they didn't win the National Championship with that roster. I can't believe KY isn't rioting over this. Almost any other coach would have won a title with that roster. He should at least have his salary taken away for this entire season.

A story that relates to this thread:

Then came news late tonight that Patrick Patterson may not have actually filed the papers and was still mulling a decision as to what he was going to do. I spoke with Tywanna Patterson tonight and she told me this:

Patrick has not made a decision yet. He will do so in the next week or two and he will decide it by the 24th. It his decision and he knows that if he puts in the Draft he cant take it out. He wants to weigh the pros and the cons of the decison. The pros like the fact that he loves the fans and he could get his master’s degree at Kentucky. But then he sees cons like the injury that Desean from West Virginia got in that last game. But he is taking his time and wants to make a thoughtful decision on his own terms."

I still think he goes. The kid has a great head on his shoulders and some great parents, so it makes sense for him to reflect and evaluate the decision. Sad to see him go.

Also, rumor has it that Calipari has managed to steal the almost certain Louisville commit Marquis Teague (#1pg 2011) away from Pitino. Several say that he is now leaning toward UK, which will possibly give UK 4 of the top 5 in the 2011 class.

A LOT of things will be decided in the next 2-3 weeks.

I know you would love anything stolen from Pitino. If I've learned anything it's that Kentucky fans hate UL and Pitino especially.

I've seen Calipari have down years. However a "down" Calipari year is a slightly above average year for everyone else.

You guys are going to get your wins. You're in a totally different era than Tubby or Billy G. Cal is going to get his players, and he is going to win his games. I see UK being dominant, but I don't see you having quite as special as a team as you had this year. I'm not saying you're not going to have some amazingly talented players come through. But...I just haven't seen a freshman tandem like Wall and Cousins in a long time. Wall was money EVERY time he drove to the basket. He was a freak.

I wish Kentucky luck. I'm going to be moving up there, so I might as well get used to them. Though....when they play the Orange...I can't help myself. But I respect Kentucky, and I admit that they are going to be dominant again.

2011 should be a big year for UK.

But don't discount 2010 just yet. As many times as Cal has gotten to the door, he's bound to get through eventually.

Making the E8 with 5 NBA first round draft picks shouldn't be considered "above average" by anyone.

Coming in and taking over an NIT roster, with one player worth a damn, then being able to bring in the class of the century all within 3 months, start 3 freshman and a sophmore, lose only 3 games in a season while making the elite 8 in his first season......

is certainly not AVERAGE.

Everything that he has done this season is almost unprecedented. Name another coach who could have done everything he has this year. I'm not just talking X's and O's. I'm saying show me someone else who could pull that off. Go ahead. I'm DYING to hear something idiotic before I have to leave for a bit.

I think Izzo, Williams, Self, Boeheim, Huggins and coach K. could pull it off if they became the new coach of Kentucky and had WWW by their side. I think kids like to be part of "something new" and once Cal has been at UK for awhile and once the new car smell wears off than I think it will become harder to get every kid he wants. For example, If Tom Izzo became the new coach of North Carolina tomorrow, that would be the "fresh" story and recruits would be attracted to that.

He is already committed. The only thing left now is muddling through his eligibility and whether he will play next year or not, due to his participation in a few games that could be considered professional. I haven't heard anything suggesting a lean toward either status.
