I'm not sure. The Washington, Washington St, and Oregon jobs all came open this year and he stayed put. I'm still surprised he left Boise St for Auburn. Not that Auburn isn't the better job, but because Harsin is from Boise and a Boise St alum and they were consistently good.I think Harsin's job is safe. The question is would he be the one to bolt back to the West Coast in the first couple of years.

Two problems for Auburn. One, their reserve QB is awful. Two, they don’t look like they give one crap about being there. Always a question mark on these bowls as to what team really cares about playing. Happens all the time. That’s why I don’t put too much stock in bowl results. Especially now with players opting out and Covid.
I agree, but I figured he'd eventually get a job offering a similar salary somewhere closer to home, where he's more familiar with the landscape/recruiting territory.Probably just took the money.
I have a friend connected to Auburn who pointed to "booster issues" (sound familiar) at Auburn leading to the Harsin hire. Apparently the $$$ couldn't agree on things and the AD went rogue/off the script to get Harsin.I agree, but I figured he'd eventually get a job offering a similar salary somewhere closer to home, where he's more familiar with the landscape/recruiting territory.
Harsin at Auburn seemed like an odd fit from the beginning. I guess it is actually more surprising that Auburn was interested in him rather than the other way around because you're right - Harsin was making not quite $2m at Boise and Auburn basically tripled his salary. That has a way of getting you interested in the job.
