In 2014, Tennessee fans should expect nothing more than 6-6, which would be a good year in my opinion. Yes, it will be Butch's second year as coach, but (and yes I will use this argument) the situation he was brought into was in no way similar to that of Nick Saban's or many other coaches.

Unfortunately Tennessee has another tough schedule next year and getting to a bowl game will be remarkable. It is important I think, to set our standards low next year, so that anything above them will be a pleasant surprise.

Analyzing the schedule, it looks as if UT will have very few if any give me games. Utah State is a good football team with a good QB, it will be a difficult challenge starting off the season with them.

At Oklahoma is going to be a killer, followed by playing Georgia and Florida back to back, who will both hopefully be down.

I think the roughest part of the schedule will be Ole Miss, Alabama, and South Caroilna, which it seems we always get dealt a rough hand during that stretch of the year. Ole Miss will be improved, Alabama will more than likely be Alabama unless Saban leaves and whoever takes his place tanks the program, and South Carolina will be tough, even without Spurrier and Shaw.

It will be weird playing Kentucky so early, I don't think I like that at all. But that game shouldn't be a challenge. Luckily Tennessee has a nice and probably well deserved bye week before Mizzou, and that probably will help a lot but not enough, as I see Mizzou being good next year. Then we finish off the season at Vandy, and unless James Franklin leaves, that's going to be a tough game to win, I really hate to say that but it's true.

So 6-6 is what I have, this is in no way a negavol thread, I fully believe in what Butch Jones is doing and I understand the magnitude of the situation that UT is in right now and that it is going to take a couple of years to get out of it. Once again, this is my opinion, I would like to see UT win more and definitely not any less. A bowl berth is what we should expect and hope for as fans next year, that would be a huge improvement.

Or.....just observe and critique the season as it actually happens.

So many overshot the expectations for 2013 and now they are pissed because CBJ did not deliver on their unrealistic expectations.

All that I'm saying in a nutshell is that our fan base needs to better understand the situation of where we are and realize that on paper UT will have a tough time winning 6 games and getting to a bowl and if that happens we should all be happy for it.

I agree that 6-6 should be the reasonable expectation but there are a lot on here that will be calling for Butch's head if it happens.

I agree, many fans are lost.

I really doubt we get to six

It will likely be 4, hopeful for 5

We will be starting a ton of Freshmen and our QB situation is not the best

If 6-6 is the best fans should hope for, after six excretable seasons, UT had better drop the donor fee. They're already getting serious pushback.

Although hindsight is 20/20, did those of us predicting 6 - 6 really overshoot expectations????

I think you are misunderstanding. We HOPE for 13-0, but realistically expect 6-6.

I go into next year with the same expectations I had going into this season. It's not about wins and losses, but how we look in the games. I thought six wins was manageable this year, but it didn't happen, but that's not even remotely part of my reasons for worrying about this staff and next season. The fact that their was little to no drive in this team since the USCe win is what worries me. The quit came back in this team and it was evident. Couple that to how sloppy and poorly prepared the attack was against Vandy and I have reason to worry. We might only win five games next year, but if the team plays hard for sixty minutes and is always improving, I'll be happy. Unfortunately this year the team regressed over the last half of the season.

No. That was a reasonable prediction.

If we miss it by 1 game, I don't consider that a disaster.

We should have beat Vandy and you get that. Instead we miss a Fg, have a stupid penalty that negates a TD, etc.

That is what average teams do.

Good points but I don't think Ole Miss and SC are going to be better. Well I may be wrong about Ole Miss because it all depends on if Wallace stays. If he does then they will be a tough challenge. SC is losing Shaw and Clowney. They are going to be hard to replace.

I don't know how good we are going to be. Nobody on here can predict that. Regardless of what anybody says our offense could be vastly improved. Our defense may be vastly improved. I am confident we will be better because we are going to be bringing in better players. If 5-7 or 6-6 was the projected record this season with our insane schedule then 6-6 or 7-5 should be expected.

I also think some of our other opponents may not be as strong next season. Georgia is losing Murray which will be huge. Florida may or may not be that good. Vandy is losing Samuels, Matthews, Krause and Tate. That's pretty much heir entire offense. Missouri is losing Fanklin, Washington and maybe Josey and Sasser.

I am sorry, who will be the QB at Georgia? I forgot since Aaron Murray will be graduating.

I'm sorry guys but 6-6 was a very reasonable and obtainable record this year. Most people said if we could get a win against Aurburn, Mizzu, or SC we could reach a 6-6 record. Losing to Vandy is unacceptable, losing to Vandy the way we did is very unacceptable. Our seniors should be ashamed of themselves for that BS of an effort they just put on. I know they have been through a lot, but they didn't play with the heart and intensity I expected. This loss is one of the most disappointing losses I've seen here.

Hutson Mason will be the incumbent. He's a 2009 Parade All American and won a slew of awards playing HS in Georgia. They've also got a 4 star kid, Jacob Park committed from South Carolina. It will help Mason that he will now be the starter Saturday and then gets to practice for a month with the first team.

Thanks....wasn't Worley like Gatorade Player of the Year or something in South Carolina? Because everyone wants to throw stars out like they mean ****.

for every player that wins a lot of HS awards and falls flat on his face in college, so many more continue to shine in college. add to that, that if so many are giving Dobbs a free pass because of how bad the team around him is, why can't Worley get that same free pass? He's managed the team FAR better than any other qb we've tried out this year.

I would say we have 4 sure wins and 3 toss-ups , meaning 5 losses out of the gate but if you get lucky you could pickup 1-3 more wins, 3 would give us 7 , either way , 2015 will be better and 2016 look really good if we keep recruiting, so keep the faith.

You missed what I am saying...there are people who act like Georgia will be amazing next year with a new QB under center. I thought Worley did an admirable job this year. This offense just does not fit him in my humble opinion. This offense is more for people like Peterson or Fergy (has the wheels to make plays etc), and not for pocket passers like Dobbs and Worley. I hope Worley and Dobbs prove me wrong and they can compete in this offense.
