6th lowest scoring output by AP #1 team on the road in history

You'll have a little better guage after Barnes' visit to Austin Saturday evening, where it has been difficult for Barnes' Tennessee teams to play well and win and the Saturday after that in Nashville, both winnable games on paper, but road wins in the SEC require excellence on offense and defense, all magnified by a humiliation and non competitive performance and embarrassment for a number one ranked Tennessee in Gainesville.

They also play 82 games a year, they play back to backs, etc. Comparing NBA to college basketball is obtuse. This hasn’t happened in nearly 60 years.
It happened to them in the Finals on 3 days rest. Folks act like it's different but really it isn't. You can do everything else well and have an ugly loss if you're not hitting shots, and even the best teams miss their shots sometimes. College basketball has the disadvantage of ending with a single elimination tournament, putting way more importance in single games than the sport warrants.

We’ve only played them once in Austin under Barnes and it was a close loss, and it was Beard coaching who isn’t there anymore. One data point doesn’t establish a trend.

It was a historically bad offensive performance, you're not wrong. But, just take a deep breath. The good thing is it only counts as one loss. There are some things to be concerned about, but you can count on this team always playing hard. They're not the best team in the country, but they'll be in the mix.

This really isn’t an example of something that just “happens,” though.
We lost, got embarrassed, missed shots, and out rebounded. We had missed assignments and then made poor decisions and panicked when shots didn’t fall.

It’s one game. We will be okay as Barnes, ZZ, and Gainey are leaders of this team. I don’t like how we lost but I truly think this will make this team hungrier. Keep in mind this was a new environment for Chaz and some others, tonight. Welcome to the SEC on the road!

The last time a #1 team scored less in a road game than we just did was 1957. This was a historic embarrassment. Honestly I’m dumbfounded as to what just happened, never would have expected. No idea what to think of this team going forward. Idk if that was an aberration or an exposure.
Figures you would make this thread given your name. Just go ahead and stop pulling for the Vols. We suck. We got blown out by a bottom feeder team. Barnes sucks. We are overrated.

That about cover it?
