6th Trip To Omaha In School History

Still reeling from last night’s win. I have to agree with @chuckiepoo, we’re playing with house money now. We made it to Omaha, now let’s just enjoy the ride. Players need to have fun, be proud of themselves and just roll wit it!
I posted that making the supers was the ceiling for this year's team. Guess they didn't get the message. House money is exactly right. Everything from this point forward is icing on one crazy season. From being bundled up like Ralphie and being boat raced by Mizzou to playing in the CWS. Never in my wildest dreams did I see this happening.

I bet your husband is sick after the Texas fiasco
You have no idea! He was upset, but I just wanted him to give me the remote to watch the Vols! I’m an awful Longhorn fan, as in not at all, but I have to play along for his sake. Although, I was pulling for them to beat Stanford, I thought Texas was peaking at the right time.

As someone with a degree from Texas, I couldn't care less about their loss last night!

I had heard about the Texas play but hadn’t seen it (didn’t care with the Vols winning). When I went to look up the play, I noticed that the team had tweeted this the inning before, oops!!

A tip of the cap to Coach Vitello, as this year showed us how difficult it is to get to the College World Series and the great play and roster adjustments he initiated to put his team in position to win some very big games on the road to earn the right to get to Omaha.

Not a fan of the NCAA putting two SEC teams in Super Regionals (LSU/KY)(FL/SC) and then having SEC teams square off in the opening games, but the college game is chocked full of 18 and 19 year olds that play hard, make mistakes, come back quickly and are a pleasure to watch play on college baseball's biggest stage.
If the NCAA had been right it would have been Clemson vs LSU. We showed them!

I didn't realize our team ERA was ranked that high.

With the way some talk on here you would think we have a 5+ ERA. Just because we aren’t as good as last year doesn’t mean we still don’t have one of the best staffs in the country. We’ve gone from all-world to still elite. I would take our pitchers over anyone else.

I would say that it is unfair to compare any team to last year's team.

This team is truly great in their own way and have started playing their best ball when it counts most.

Totally agree. I go back to that Friday night game against Vandy. It felt like everything changed with that 9th inning and then fire thrower Burns took charge with Merritt ending it in the 12th. I think the Team got a feeling of what it was like to be the 2023 Vols and the ghost of 2022 began to disappear. Winning the SC series was huge. They had to scratch and claw to win games not in the friendly confines of LNS which many doubters said they could not do. Then came the regionals. The sleeping giant returned to beast mode at Clemson. SM was a tough test in tough conditions. It is good to see they are playing for each other. They’d better. The bracket ahead is stacked. Somebody will win. It might as well be the Vols! GBO!

If having the 2nd best ERA in the country is struggling then I would hate to see what happens whenever we pull it together 😂

I was referring to the inconsistency in the starting pitching from the start of the season. Dolly & Burns (Fri -Sat night starters at the beginning) got off to rough starts in the SEC season and Coach V had to make some difficult decisions, which did work out.

Have fun and roll with it. There is no room to be proud. Be HUMBLE and HUNGRY! I would like to see Ahuna bat 9th and Denton move up to the 3 or 4 hole with C-Mo leading off and Dickey batting in the 2 hole! I think Burke, Starks, and Ahuna should definitely be 7,8,9, too many strike outs with them three lately.
