6th Trip To Omaha In School History

A tip of the cap to Coach Vitello, as this year showed us how difficult it is to get to the College World Series and the great play and roster adjustments he initiated to put his team in position to win some very big games on the road to earn the right to get to Omaha.

Not a fan of the NCAA putting two SEC teams in Super Regionals (LSU/KY)(FL/SC) and then having SEC teams square off in the opening games, but the college game is chocked full of 18 and 19 year olds that play hard, make mistakes, come back quickly and are a pleasure to watch play on college baseball's biggest stage.
The 2006 Omaha team played Florida the first game.

I didn't realize our team ERA was ranked that high.

Funny how no one mentions this when marginalizing Tennessee's offensive numbers due to playing in LNS. If LNS makes offensive numbers better, the having the #1 team ERA in America in 2022 and #2 in 2023 is damn near unbelievable.

yes how about the acc.
I was down on the ACC and thought the conference was overrated but they have 2 teams in Omaha. Wake Forest would be the number 1 team in the SEC this year based on the games I have seen them play. Other than Game 1 of Supers they have annihilated their competition in the NCAAT.

Agree. I don’t know how we can say the ACC isn’t the 2nd best conference at this point. They’re better than the Pac 12.

No thanks. Wake Forest’s entire team has a 2.84 ERA. 4 guys with at least 60 innings pitched and sub-3.00 ERA. I’ll take my chances with the Stanford lefty.

Those Wake guys are good. But they’re righties. Tennessee hasn’t shown it can hit lefties all year. We can hit righties, even good ones like Tanner Hall.

Unfortunately Wake has two lefties who are probably two of their top three arms. Their number two starter, Josh Hartle, is a lefty who will likely pitch for Wake in game two. The other lefty is Sean Sullivan, he has been coming out of the bullpen lately so he could possibly get used in game one in relief. Both of them are dirty, and they are like Vols and loaded with arms.

Agreed. Scary fact: Wake’s is also a hitter friendly park and their ERA is even lower. Wake MAY be the real deal.
