#7 Utah @ Florida - 7PM EST-ESPN

Great game, great atmosphere. The Swamp hasn’t rocked like that in a very long time.

Outside of AR and Pearsall, UF has no playmakers on offense. I liked what I saw from the freshman RB Etienne, even though he gave us a heart attack on that long run and fumble during our last TD drive.

We have ZERO difference makers on the DL. So called 5-stars Dexter and Cox were invisible most of the night. Utah’s TE #80 is legit, so I can’t bash our LBs too much for letting him get loose.

I’ll take the outcome, but our non-existent pass rush will be our fatal flaw all season.

1-11

Maybe 2-10 Vandy is horrrendous again this year

We're all just chasing vandy at this point anyway.

Please show in the quote where I said it didn’t count. A trophy is a trophy. If you read my other comments-you’ll see where I compare Kirby to Phil in that they’re world class recruiters more than world class scheme coaches. Phil had to out athlete people too and should have won 2-3 nattys rather than the 1.

I never said that you said "it didn't count." But you did imply that Smart only won the Natty because Bama lost its' best receiver, and you drew a clear parallel between Smart and Fulmer, and thus my question about the '98 Natty. If Smart's Natty doesn't really count, then neither does Fulmer's. Losing your star WR sucks, but losing your top 2 QB's is a death sentence in the BCS Championship game.

But you did say this:
Phil had to out athlete people too and should have won 2-3 nattys rather than the 1.

I, for one, would love to know where those other 1-2 NC's should have occurred. I think we all would. I'm tempted to concede 2001, especially after the beatdown we laid on Michigan in the bowl game.

And now that we're on the subject of "world-class scheme coaches", which coaches would you be referring to? Mind you, world-class. So they've won a Natty with lesser talent? I guess you could make an argument for the 1984 BYU team, but then they played a 6-5 Michigan team, so...not really world-class coaching there.

Let's not let this get personal. I've tried to stick to your post(s). So let's have a friendly, clean debate here. I disagree with your position, and I am asking you to establish it with facts, or your opinions. I'm good either way.

Mine is this: There are (5) steps to success at the highest level. Recruiting, player development, conditioning, game preparation, and in-game coaching. Win 3 of those 5 against any opponent, and the scales begin to tip in your favor. Not 100%, but generally. This, IMO is why teams with lesser talent can, and do, win. Coaching. Coaches like Saban, Smart, and even Fulmer (back in his best days) put checkmarks in all the boxes.

Fulmer won because he did it all right. Including recruiting. Same goes for Saban, Smart, Meyer (ugh...), Swinney, and others.

Talent only takes you so far. Ask Oklahoma, OSU, Texas, USC, and Notre Dame. All perennial Top 10 in recruiting, and yet in the last 10 years, only one of them has a NC trophy. Must be more to it than just recruiting, then.

I have fired my opening salvo, Sir. I await your response with flags proudly flying.....

Still hard to comprehend Rising’s decision making that last play. Worst case scenario has to be you take the chip shot FG you had in your back pocket and go to OT. Any throw you make has to be “my guy gets it or no one can get it”

Literally the only two things you couldn’t do in that situation were take a sack or turn the ball over.

I think Utah will be okay.

This kills me to say it, but....

(sigh) Florida deserved to win that game. Bitch all you want about the last play, but it was a 60 minute fight, and Utah took a knockout punch with literally seconds left. As much as I despise the Gators, I had to admire the fact that they never gave up.

Utah is a good football team. West of the Mississippi, and maybe north of the Tennessee. But when they come up against teams with elite speed...which Florida clearly has an abundance of...they simply cannot match the pace. I hold the same opinion from the Oregon - UGA game. Safe to say Dan Lanning knew exactly what Oregon was up against, and did his best to prepare for it. But I watched every snap of that game, and it was apparent early on that the Georgia speed was just too much for Oregon. The final score was an act of mercy on Kirby's part. 60 was there for the taking.

As for UF, stop AR and you stop the Gator offense. Gator defense is good, but not good enough to cover for the offense. The key to beating UF is containing AR. Do that, and you're in good shape.

Go Vols.

Ok. Valid point.
Yeah. I hate the gators but I’m trying to be objective here. I know Gator fans want to believe but ppl felt the same with Muschamp, Mullen, McElwain, etc.

I love what I’ve seen out of Heupel but I’m not completely sold on him yet either, I just think he’s overachieved so far though and looks to be on the right path.

“I never said that you said "it didn't count." Other than the part where you said, I guess ours doesn’t count via the strawman argument indicating I said or otherwise implied it didn’t count? I made it clear in my response that a trophy is a trophy and never implied any shouldn’t count. That would be the strawman implication you made.

“But you did imply that Smart only won the Natty because Bama lost its' best receiver”
I didn’t imply-I explicitly stated this. See a healthy Bama in the SEC championship game vs a limited Bama in the natty game for support here.

“Let's not let this get personal. I've tried to stick to your post(s). So let's have a friendly, clean debate here.” I didn’t get personal in any comment. Haven’t used insults or foul language so I’m not sure why this statement is being made unless perhaps the offense is taken on your part that would necessitate this comment. If so, I’m not sure why as I’m not offended by your statements or angry with you-I simply don’t agree with all of them, per the reasons stated above.

As for the rest of the points-I appreciate your comments but I’m watching LSU/FSU and not interested in a long-form debate. Agree to disagree on some and agree with you on the rest.

Richardson was solid but Florida got really lucky the refs blew the call that took a TD away from Utah and the experienced Utah QB having a brain fart trying to force the ball into triple coverage at the end. Florida guy made a good instinctive play but you just can’t make that throw. Toss it away and get another try on 3rd down and if that doesn’t work, kick the field goal and go to OT. Just a really bad decision that cost Utah a chance to win the game.

Really bad decision. Utah had at worst a tie in hand. The QB needs to wait for a really high percentage play and if it’s not there throw it away.

If we don’t beat Florida this year then we never will. Billy is building something good in Gainesville if they give him time to do it. He’s gonna be their best coach since Urban I think.
I’m late to this, but do you and your gator boys really hang out here during your game? Honest question, because I can see why. There’s enough fans that disguise themselves as Vols to make you boys feel right at home.

It was odd to see a "slow" Oregon that built itself around speed for so many years. Speed used to the equalizer for them in these games against the SEC.
