8-1 Vols wonder about Nico, look to angry Bulldogs

Put Beck on his backside early and often to get him rattled. When we pick him off, the offense has to score points off the turnovers. Georgia has struggled running the ball consistently. We need to use our tight ends more often in passing and running situations. Force their LBs into coverage by completing passes to TEs and crossing routes, then run Sampson from the same formation. We cannot let them load the box and key on our running game. We have to have a successful passing game then run it down their throats. Good passes by QB and WRs better catch the dang ball. Go Vols!

Eroding all the way to giving up just 17 points thanks to a season high in sacks (4). MSU has score less than 20 only twice this season. Our defense ain't eroding.
Eroding, no. Overworked, hell yes. And they can still pin back their ears when they need to.

And??

Stats don't win games
I will argue with you that the team with the better stats wins the game 80% of the time; and it's probably higher than that, depending largely on turnovers, which is also a stat; how many turnovers committed per game. Yards per play translates into first downs which eventually propel you to the red zone and Points. The team with the most points wins the game, and Points per game just so happens to be stats, as are points allowed per game. Your stats tell the story of who you are. And Arkie had better stats than did Tennessee. Hopefully I have simplified the issue.

westwords Marvin West's piece as He sees it. Read it!
* Dylan Sampson is a gritty warrior, an NFL running back-to-be. He deserves at least an honorable mention in Heisman Trophy talk. Sampson carried a big load Saturday night, 30 runs, 149 yards. He is the second player in Tennessee history with eight 100-yard rushing games in a season. Jay Graham had 11 in 1995.

* The “elite” Volunteer defense is eroding. Someone must tell defensive coordinator Tim Banks that young linebackers are chasing decoys and leaving the middle wide open.

“We were out of gaps,” said Heupel.

The Vols actually gave up more yards per rush than they gained. Let us again mourn the injury loss of Keenan Pili. westwords
Talking about Sampson and the Heisman? Nobody can convince me that Sampson doesn’t deserve to be ranked above Travis Hunter. Sampsons numbers have been mentioned in the same breath as Derrick Henry’s. Meanwhile NOBODY has put Hunters numbers in the same realm as say a Devonte Smith or a Charles Woodson.

They're definitely missing Pili.. Georgia uses TE's and backs out of the backfield a lot. That could be a problem for sure.

True, but "The Vols actually gave up more yards per rush than they gained." This hasn't happened all season . Ark had 5.9 yds per play vs Ut's 5.2, but Ark got theirs' passing.
True. In addition, the speed of the defensive secondary prevented additional yardage and TD by catching runners, who had broken free without being touched, from behind saving TDs

Travis Hunter, unlike Woodson, has been stellar all season. Woodson had one game. We know the deal with Peyton Manning losing to Woodson. ESPN/ABC Hack Job.

He is not fumbling, he is being stood up and the ball taken from him. I don't know the solution but he can't play keep away with 250lb linebackers.
2 of his redzone fumbles was where he was taking on a tackler holding the ball in one hand instead of covering it up. They hit directly on the football.

I don't see us winning this game. We've come out flat as a pancake for the last four games. Our defense has kept us in the games long enough for our offense to come and show a pulse. We've overworked our running back. He's an absolute stud but he's got to have something else going on besides him on this offense. The injury bug is going around. All our guys were able to get back in the game, but they are all walking wounded right now. I get that this time of the season every team is dealing with it. But it looks like we have more than our fair share of players hanging on by thread. Our defense can hang with Georgia. But they're going to score. I just don't think we can. On paper we have the talent. We should be able to run them off of their home field based on what we have on paper. Their home field advantage is going to cinch it. I predict they win 23 to 13.

I don't disagree that ESPN/ABC stole that Heisman, but calling Woodson a hack job is a misrepresentation of how good he was on the defensive side of the ball....so much so that he also got into the NFL Hall of Fame. Did he deserve the Heisman over Manning? Absolutely not, but he was far from a hack.

It’s a pretty big accusation. Fulmer had a subpoena in Alabama over such an accusation towards them.
I followed his whole career, he was my favorite rb in college and nfl. Arian was seriously shocked at the way vol fans treated him, I rlly think it was the beginning of the downward spiral the vols were headed and people took it out on him, and as a kid it made me question what happened to VFL. I don’t blame him one bit the people turned their back on him. That’s a black eye for our fan base

I don’t blame the Vol faithful for turning on a guy who purposely admitted to cheating? He waiting until he was a well established and well paid pro before doing so. How can anyone blame the fans and staff for reacting that way?

We beat the team that beat the leghumpers, don't fret so much boys, lol.

DJT is gonna Make America Great Again, and Josh Heupel is gonnna make UT great again.

I can't wait to see Josh take Kirby's cookies in his own backyard. He's got it coming.
