8 Team Playoffs

We would (myself included). Then when it expands to 8, teams 9 and 10 will complain. Go to 16, 17 and 18 will.

I just don't want the regular season to lose its value. I think 4 is the perfect number. Are there years when 5 teams deserve a shot? Sure. Are there years where only 2 do? Yep. But the more we expand this thing, the less meaningful regular season losses become.

IMO, that is what makes CFB the best sport on the planet. Every. Game. Matters. The more losses you can absorb and still make the playoffs, you lose a piece of that. I don't want this to become NFL Jr.
Yea, that would knock volnation into a frenzy. Poor Freak would have a heartache if it did. Well! I for one would love to keep it a 4 for now. For some reason, I just don’t see it staying at 4 though. Maybe, I’m wrong.

Just copy the FCS format.

Eliminate bowls.

Raise scholarship limit to 30/year and 100 total. 5 players a year will be allowed to receive additional stipend 20 total.

Player union to receive % of all revenue from sell of uniforms, autographs, etc for the purpose of providing services to players.

Allow teams that miss the playoff to have extra practice weeks in spring and summer.

Hire/Train/pay better officials with accountability, limit commercial timeouts.

UCF would get obliterated like 60-3 against Bama. They would sound a peep ever again....
Good. Next year Michigan or Texas or USC or somebody along those lines can have their spot. But if you go undefeated 2 seasons in a row with 2 different coaches and 2 different quarterbacks for part of the year, you deserve a shot, imo.

Probably, but, I think Clemson is going to STEAM ROLL over ND too! Let them have a chance. Once they get stomped, the selection committee would probably overlook them for years. Let them have ONE CHANCE.

Agree with all execpt eliminating bowls, fans want to see bowl games. BOWL GAMES ARE BIG MONEY, WON'T HAPPEN.

8 is too many. Look at the current scape, there are not 8 teams that need in. Plus asking fans to go to 3 straight games is crazy.

6 teams.....5 conference champs and one at large. Top two seeds get a bye.
Or just cut some of the smaller bowls that only have like 6 people there

It would just make it easier to expand to 8. Just start them earlier using those bowl game slots
It does nothing. More tv slots can be created. Your asking fans to travel to neutral sites three weeks in a role, or at max over the course of the month. Asking 4 teams to play two extra games for nothin, becuase there are not 8 teams that deserve to be in.

The other bowls have no effect on the cfp, at all.

It was just a thought. Just spitballing an idea, I'm not sure it should be expanded but if they do I was just thinking out loud. I don't claim to be a smart man lol. No offense intended buddy. What do think about it I respect you as a poster one of the few sane one's on here. I like tossing ideas back and forth.I enjoy comparing notes with someone that doesn't try and be a prick like some of the posters on here

I always have thought 8 is the right number. I think this season is the classic example as to why.

Ohio State is a 1 loss conference champ of a major conference that "we think" isn't as good as the 4 who made the playoff. We think, but we don't know. A playoff was supposed to solve all that. It was supposed to give teams a chance to prove it on the field.

We were supposed to be in a position where we didn't have to guess if Oklahoma was more deserving than Ohio State. They would be in the playoff and we'd find out, but that's not the case.

The 5 power conference champs should be in automatically and 3 at larges. you can have a automatic qualifier for the highest ranked non-power 5 team if it makes people feel better to include the little guy.

The 9th team would be like the 69th team that doesn't get in the NCAA tournament. I think everyone winning their league and qualifying would cut out all the crying from the vast majority.

This year you'd have a playoff of... in no particular order

Alabama
Clemson
Oklahoma
Ohio State
Washington
Notre Dame
UCF
Georgia.

And whoever is left out really doesn't have an argument.

My opinion is exactly what it was before they started the 4 team playoff. They need to address the real issue which is strength of schedule. Strength of schedule needs to carry much more weight in the formula for determining who should play for major bowls. To many teams are playing gravy schedules and then crying about the lack of recognition. Making it harder for an SEC team to play the rigorous sec schedule then have to play a fresh opponents in the playoffs with no or few quality wins doesnt help determine who the best is...it just hurts the sec teams chances who deserve it more.

What about a team that hasnt lost in 2 years?

I see both sides of this argument. They've beaten everyone they've played, but there's no way they have less than 3 losses playing our schedule.

I believe the group of 5 need their own playoff and to be their own division.
