IMO it's taught wrong in a lot of places. People get hung up on being mechanical and fundamentals from the beginning. The baseline should be swing hard in case you hit it and then work back from that. It's a lot more fun to knock the hell out off something.

I disagree. There's no fun in hitting the ball hard if you have no idea how to get contact and get the ball up in the air.

My theory is to teach the basics: grip, stance, posture, etc.. Then, hit a million balls, and dig it out of the dirt yourself.

He said he's busy playing Wee Burn and Round Hill this week. He knows I don't like playing with lowlifes like Romney.

OT: I did a fiber run into Round Hill CC, they hired Greenwich PD to watch us. They said if a phone comes out of anyone's pocket on the property the job's over.

I suck at football but I love watching it. Golf is definitely boring to watch.

Bowling is boring to watch too but I enjoy doing it. I can see how playing golf can be fun. I've never begrudged or turned my nose up to anyone for playing.

I do enjoy hitting balls at a driving range but that is about the limit for my attention span for the sport.

FTR: I find fishing more boring than golf by a long shot.

I can watch golf, but I understand why people might tire of it easily. My original point was that I've encountered quite a few people who say playing it is boring when they've never so much as given it a chance or tried to learn.

I love fishing, I can watch tv shows about saltwater fishing but I can't sit down and watch people go bass fishing or anything.

After playing a round of 9 on Saturday, the game is still boring but I can see the appeal of cracking open a few cold ones with the boys and smacking around your balls on a hot summer afternoon.

I prefer not to drink while playing. Beer only makes my terrible game worse.
