According to Action Network, 81% are riding with the Vols Moneyline versus 19% on Alabama: https://www.actionnetwork.com/ncaaf/public-betting
66% on the Vols +7 spread versus 34% on Alabama

Many members of the media are picking us to beat Alabama tomorrow. Josh Pate, On3, Barrett Sallee, Dennis Dodd, etc.

Rat poison, overconfidence, or just people recognizing that Tennessee has the better football team in this matchup for the first time in a long time?

I think it’s that this Bama team isn’t nearly as dominant as the Bama teams we’ve recently seen. They looked very vulnerable against A&M, if that team shows up Saturday Tennessee wins and I’m not sure it’s even close. That said I bet Bama looks good when they face us.

And yet Vegas still has bammer as a seven point favorite at UT. I don't bet on athletics, and thus only have a passing interest, but it appears the big money folks are mostly coming in on bammer. Is that correct?

CAREFUL .

I think we have an equal O if Young plays, slightly better if he doesn’t. Our D is........well.......interesting. We are trendy this year. TBH, I see us losing a close, high scoring game. AND if that happens, Heupel is just the kind of leader to build on it.

As for the betting, it just means 66% believe the Vols can stay within the point spread. They can do that and still lose. The better wins anyway.

They’re 4 deep and 4+ stars at almost every position with the top D in the country, and a Heisman winner, if he plays. A good way to bring them together is telling them they’ll lose. This will be a tough game. They’ll try to stop our run by blitzing the meshpoint and bringing a safety up on the first two downs. They’ll eat some long passes, but our offense suffers when we start 2nd with ten to go. Beating them is possible, but they have enough depth to rotate. It’ll be hard to wear them down. Vegas is holding 7 against 80/20 because they don’t want to cover. Normally a line will shift quickly with sentiment, but they’re letting emotional betting load up first, and the algorithms will kick in when big money bets the other side. Tough game coming. Go Vols.

They don't seem to be as good as in the recent past but they still have far more player talent than we do and they'll be trying to prove the media wrong.

I'm expecting a really difficult game.

The opening line was 7.5 and it dropped to 7.0. That would indicate that more money is coming in on Tennessee since they lowered the spread from a 2 possession game to 1. That half a point doesn’t seem like much but it actually means a lot.

I'm sure it's just something I don't understand about the system, but it appears 81% of the people represent only 66% of the money. Unless I just don't get it, that seems as if the bigger bets are on the bammers.

This is not the Bama teams from 2-3 years ago. That being said they have TONS of talent and will def bring their best game plan for us. I will be nervous until its all 0:00 and we're up by 30

I keep telling myself to not get to excited until the 4th quarter. I will then either go,”Oh well” or “Heck yea!!!, make it happen!!!”.

I think Bama is royally pissed off at the doubt, hype, and marginalization directed at their team. They are going to come out like the pre-George Foreman Smoking Joe Frazier. And dead set on putting us in our place, in our house, on nationally televised Game Day. We darn well better be ready for a death duel.

Everyone WANTS us to beat Bama. Even the media. How many years can they just sit around and talk about Alabama and not get sick of it? People are just sick and tired of seeing the same team in the #1 spot for years on end. It's bad for football.
