9 Americans Dead after Mexican cartel attack

It's time to deploy US military forces along the entire southern border. One mile inside the border, and with the USBP right behind them. You shoot, we shoot. You run, USBP deals with that.

And a QRF for anything that needs manpower or firepower in a given spot. The Mexican government can be trusted same as a fart when you're over 50: not at all. Fact is, both give you the same result.

The only thing a bully understands is fear. The only thing the cartels will fear is certain death. They clearly don't fear the Mexican government, military, or current U.S. policy towards them. Time to change things.

Put the 3rd ID down there...give them reasonable ROE...and watch things change.

I’m 49 and can confirm the fart trust 😳

So you're calling me doofus but can't think your way through this brainbuster? Drugs present many dangers, potency is just one of them. Compromised product is another and regulation resolves it. Lack of awareness about potency is probably a bigger issue than potency itself. You reliably know how much you're taking with regulation. What now, smart guy?

Wait, so you have a problem with my libertarianism because I'd rather have something be legal and taxed than illegal? GTFOH

I never said they would be good stewards. How many straw man arguments can you fit in one discussion? You make like 10 arguments for me and they're stupid, of course.

The crux of this whole argument rests in my first comment. Go back to where I said chasing the dragon, your inability to understand what it means, and manufactured drugs. From that point, you were the one who propped up straw men, not me, but you’re more than welcome to point to where I did in my original response. You moved the argument further away from my premise, making yourself look like more the dumbass by peddling taxes, etc. That is why I question your supposed libertarianism.

Proof......?

You believe regulation/making it safer is “good,” in which I responded in kind by saying that regulation would decrease the potency, thus forcing your market base to go to the black market to get their fix. You clearly do not understand dope, or addicts, if you’re going to argue that. No addict of any manufactured drug(s) is going to buy weak, legal dope, if they can get higher elsewhere. I mean, this is simple sh!t. If drugs are being bought off the black market, no taxes are being collected.

So..... where is it you were going with this?

Oh yeah, legalize that sh!t, daddy, and yes, for the sake of personal freedom and my deliberate neglect of any repercussions, I approve of a mandated tax that will be futile because I don’t understand dope. True, blue libertarianism right there.

You ever work around the drones? I was offered a shot but it was pilot and flight chief at the same time...do your own maintenance, avionics, and fly.

School was 276 days followed by an immediate 18/36 month deployment. I was coming off 5 yrs overseas and 4 deployments. My family had to come first that time but had several co-workers who took the gig. I took another offer and have no regrets even though I took some damage.
I was recommended for sensor operator, without going into detail and seeing video of collateral damage in our classified briefs and knowing I couldn’t discuss my job with my family, I decided to hang up the flight gloves.

I have wondered if there was no confusion here and that this family was the intended target of the cartel.
They had 2 members kidnapped by cartel years ago. Released I'm sure after some palms were greased. Some members went back to the US after that. They live near one of the major cartel hubs.

Absolutely, without question, yes!! All sane and reasonable people would be very upset by this.

That is why I wonder if Trump's base would be as upset by it if they find out its not like a regular Mormon mission group.
That doesn't even matter. A child had to hide his siblings and leave the wounded to go get help. Truly, it doesn't matter.

Sensors was right next door to me for a few years. I understand completely brother!!

I would say legalize drug use. But then when they overdose they shouldn't be covered insurance wise at hospitals. Let nature take its course.

Just to lighten up the mood for second, my brother played "professional" baseball for what ended up being a "shortened season" in the late 90's in Juarez.

Owner of the team was a druglord. He didn't make payroll. At his discretion.

He would buy coolers of beers for after the games though, but, was a little behind in paying the players.

No one ever complained to him. Brother left after about a month. Didn't receive his due and didn't approach ownership either......

The Mexican gov and military (leadership) is in bed with the cartels, we go to war with the cartels we’ll be going to war with Mexico.

Legalize drugs and take away their money.

I'm a firm believer in letting stupid people pay the consequences for being stupid.
I think you take the focus off the user in terms of policing and put it on illegal distribution. I think the US should use its intelligence agencies and military to attack drug cartels wherever they are.

We’ve been there and done that. They are like cockroaches you kill some but you can’t kill them all.

Good philosophically, but I don't think it would work practically. We would be exchanging one problem for another. Perhaps it wouldn't be as violent, but the ensuing health crisis of drug dependency would be (imho) staggering. We aren't willing to make the hard decision either way because someone would die. imho, Narcan is a mistake. Yep. I said it.

I don't know the answer any more than anyone else, but I DO know what we are doing now isn't working. Maybe San Francisco has the right idea vis a vis the dark part of society. Just let them go free range. Same with drug addicts. If they die in the streets, oh well. They made a choice at some point in their lives. Tragic? Yep. But someone living in Cleveland Tennessee should not be responsible for an idiot in NY dying of bad heroin.

San Francisco btw is disgusting. We stay at a very nice Westin hotel there, and the concierge told me emphatically, do NOT turn right when you walk out the door. even in the daytime. Liberal Utopia.

Sorry for the longwinded post.

I had a missionary friend murdered by a cartel near the border. Most have no idea just how bad it is. The US military ought to be involved. The Mexican government has shown it is incapable of dealing with these well arm gangs.

I’ve been mocked by leftist on this forum when trying to bring light to this.

Because you're talking about putting boots on the ground so Mormons can build churches. Get bent, my dude.

What a ridiculous statement. This isn’t an isolated incident. I personally had someone I know murdered by a cartel. This just happened to get publicized.

Well by all means, since you know a guy, let's throw a couple trillion at the problem

IMO I don't think we would see much of an increase in drug use. Reality is hardly anyone is not doing drugs because they are illegal, they don't do drugs because of their job or simply do not want to.

I think uptake would be very marginal as well. The people who want to use drugs are for the most part doing it. I think maybe you see a slight increase in weed, but it’s not like a lot of professionals wished they could do heroin but don’t want to get arrested or fail a drug test. I have no interest in any of it but don’t see the point of pushing this market into the shadows. I think the number one opponent of legalization is going to be the criminal justice system. Legalization would put a lot of people out of work and remove a lot of funds from police/court/prison coffers. They will fight that to the death.
