We might be able to match the mighty Gators in talent on a regular basis pretty soon. No small accomplishment.

Go CBJ!

Don't see us beating the gators unless we change the attitude of the football team on Rocky Top.

Even when we have been the better team, we somehow seem to lose the game, even at home....

You are forgetting the number of starters we have lost also. Yes, we might have recruited well this year but those players are young.

The Gators also have recruited well and much longer then just this past year. Hey, at the end of the day yes I hope we beat them and say Go Vols! I think we all need to remember that 2016-17 are the years when me will match talent from top to bottom.

There is no reason to believe we won't beat Florida this year, as long as you pretend the whole last decade doesn't exist.

I didn't say we'd beat them.

I just said we "might" be able to match them in talent.

But, eventually, we'll get a break. Even Navy beat Notre Dame after 40 years...

Sad that we are now like Vandy and Kentucky fans. Now we say we will beat them this year. When we are back then we will beat them some. Give it time.

Tennessee has more than a talent gap against UF. Tennessee goes into each Gator game expecting to lose. And for the most part, they do.

Tennessee needs to improve talent recruiting certainly but the bigger issue is getting the ideas that they are going to lose again out of their heads.

Last year was a classic case. That Gator team was beatable, just not by Tennessee.

That actually only occurred under Fulmer.

I agree with you. In the modern history of this rival, last season the cards fell just right for the Vols to beat Florida. Florida was reeling on offense, riddled with injuries and forced to go with a back up qb. Given those circumstances Florida found themselves in last year, I was disheartened we couldn’t find a way to win.

The only small detail I disagree with you on is expecting to lose. I think it’s more of a “hoping to win” scenario. I’m not a “sunshine pumper” but I do however think Butch is recruiting much more talented players with more confidence in their abilities then we have had over the past 6 years. I don’t believe the caliber of players Butch is recruiting will have that hope to win attitude. I’m confident by 2016-17 our players will expect to win.

Florida & Alabama will occasionally make a bad hire but a few years later, they will fire that coach and hire a homerun coach.

Spurrier left and was replaced by the bad hire of Ron Zook. Internet petition and horrible record helped get Zook fired. Then they had a homerun hire with Urban "Crier"

The cupboard was beginning to get bare so Urban "Crier" left.

Then they made a bad hire by hiring Muschamp.

In a few short seasons, Muschamp will be fired and they will again make a homerun hire.

Even in a bad year for Florida, we have to play a PERFECT game to beat them. When they are good, we lose by a large margin. When they are not good, in order for us to win, we have to play a perfect game.

This comes down to coaching and UT has a prime opportunity right now. UF has more talent but not overwhelmingly so. They are still unsettled on O, have D holes to fill, and... they have Muschamp.

Another door flung wide open for Jones if "he's the man".
