A coach you hold in high esteem.

Funny how different this list would have been around this time last year. I think that a lot of Tressel would have been in this thread. I think that I would have listed him as someone that I respect.

I honestly don't know how you would think you would get any meaningful answers out of this thread

Its not a serious question. It was created so he could ask the question by first slipping in the phrase "Dooley aside ...." as though all must naturally agree they hold him in high esteem.

Its a hidden brag. And poorly hidden at that.

Jury is still out on him, imo. Some colossal errors in game situations last year, but not sure you can put that on him. If you continue to flub chances to win major ball games, though, I think it will be an issue for you.

I think you're reading into it a little (read: way) too much...

i think it was a good addition otherwise we would see a lot of dooley responses. he knows his fanbase. of course a couple of years ago kiffin would be at the top of their list, so i'm not sure their judgement is wonderful.

I just really have no idea. I don't blame folks for wanting to be optimistic about him. I want to be about Muschamp. But in both cases its probably a 2-3 year process to really know whether it was a good idea or not.

i see muschamp as a les miles type. i.e. good enough to win 10 games and not get fired, but not good enough to win a NC without someone elses players.

I wouldn't be surprised if Muschamp got off to a better than expected start at Florida but then failed to live up to expectations after that.

I like his honesty in player assessment but he seems like he's basically been two different people at Tennessee and USC (brash vs...not.) What do you mean?

It's hard to tell the NCAA to eff themselves when USC is on probation and dealing with violations.

He did a lot of shady things at Youngstown too.

I believe Tressel really wants what's best for his players, he just went about it entirely wrong.

yes, but harbaugh took them far higher then they've been in a very long time. should be interesting to see what they do this year.

Not denying that harbaugh isn't among their best ever, just saying that stanford is historically a pretty decent program.

I just think it's silly that so many people say "Oh, it's so amazing what he's doing at Iowa!" when he may be their 3rd best coach since 1950.

Top 40 program at best. Guess what your definition of decent is.

I've not seen anyone argue that its 'amazing', but they've been consistently good and he's an esteemed coach by most.
