A comment about Urban

what about the janitor who saw it happening did he stop it or just report it to paterno? why shouldnt the janitor who actually saw it happen follow up and call the cops not the 73 year old man (at the time) who didnt see it. that dude (janitor) should take more heat, at least paterno told someone higher up. not saying paterno handled it properly but if the allegations are true which i assume them to be because of how many people coming forward, i hope that guy gets prosecuted to the full extent of any charges he can get!

That would have been frightening. Newton probably would have lessened his Nick Saban brought-on heart condition.

My money is on Schiano taking over the Penn State job. Whoever it is will have a complete mess to clean up PR wise and you have to fill the shoes of the most celebrated college football coach in the modern era. It will be a daunting task and whoever gets the job must have the cajones for it.

Meyer won a NC with Chris Leak and won big at Utah - those that are saying he was only a good coach as long as he had Tebow are simply wrong

Meyer had Tebow to get every 3rd down Leak needed that year, just like he had Tebow to get every 3rd down Tebow needed thereafter. And are you saying that Utah would have won in the SEC with Meyer? The point was whether Meyer could win in the SEC without Tebow. He never proved that he could.

Well, good thing college makes it easy because you can give the coaches credit for the players they get as well.

So what if he had Tim tebow? He was at Utah, got hired at Florida and I can't tell you how many sec fans I heard saying "he'll never succeed here." Six years later it morphed into "he would never have won two sec championships and two national championships without tebow/Dan Mullen"

Yep. I doubt most college coaches would get much of anything done without the players they recruit or the assistants they hire. At some point you just have to give him credit... not that I would expect that of most sec fans.

You would have never come to this conclusion without an open mind.

It's pretty simple, really. This isn't like the NFL where there are frequently bad GMs or meddlesome owners who have a great deal of influence on a head coach's ability to succeed. This is the beautiful part about coaching in the college game: at some point, coaches are all, to a much higher degree, responsible for their own failures and successes.

I'm not that familiar with TOSU or PSU's type of talent. How far are they from having the players that Meyer needs to run his spread? My guess is that they are nowhere near. You saw the disaster UF had trying to use Brantley (Pro Style) as the spread QB @ UF.

One thing about PSU is that they would probably give him more time to win. That school isn't anywhere near the bottom yet. They have 1-2 poor recruiting classes to go, as well as a huge attrition problem, especially if Urbie shows up with his speed kills philosophy.

Of a truth, if Urban shows up in the Big 10+2 with his speed kills philosophy, and recruits the players to make it work (see Rich Rod at Meechegan), it will reek havoc in the not-so-speedy Big 10+2 conference. I will completely change the way that entire conference plays football.

I'm being serious here.
