A common theme from our current recruits

Personally, I don't care if a 17 year old kid likes it or not. I don't need his approval and he ain't getting my approval until he earns his scholly on the field, unlike these knuckleheads we got now. But, our team is getting better each week, and I am really tired of hearing about these crybaby recruits we got who are just looking for ways to de-commit. If you don't wanna be here, be a man and own up to it, don't blame it on message boards or fans leaving early. you're a joke if you do. And if 50,000 people leave the game early, oh flippin well, it cuz we are getting killed in our own stadium, that's not the fans fault...

Fan of the year. Sure wish we had more like you!

I drive 350+ miles to see the game, so leaving early to beat the crowd doesn't make sense to me....... I walk to the game from the Hotel........

To each his own. I have heard that there are some HUGE UT FANS that don't actually go to see the VOLS live.... Is this TREASON? I think not.

There are LOTS of reasons that some may leave early.

Only last weekend the Terrace ran out of Ice Cream!!!! but I still wouldn't let my wife leave. I said Heck Honey just have some more PETROS!!

To my surprise, even though I stayed to watch my Beloved Vols SQUEAK one out against U.S.A., the bars were still open and I got to watch Loser State get beat on TV. I don't think that my VOLS would have pulled it out without me making noise on their last defensive series.
Thank GOODNESS it was an early game.

sorry, apparently this Bud Light makes me a bit wordy...

I have stayed during some serious beatings on both ends of the spectrum. Listened to bammers that entire game a few years back. My group never leaves early. Only 7 Saturdays a year we get to be in that stadium and watch a game. I think Some should be able to sit there 4 hours and support of teams.

There are appropriate reasons to leave a game early. When you're up 30-40 points on Austin Peay, you have an 1.5 hour drive back home to relieve a babysitter you're paying $15-$20 an hour and if you leave early you may have a chance to see your kids before they get put to bed, well I guess I just don't feel bad leaving at that point.

I know, I know, I'm not a true fan, I'm a negavol, yada, yada. Go ahead and lay it on me.

That's understandable. I guarantee that's not the case with majority of the rest of the 100,000 there though.

Meh, I am calling BS on this. A lot of the recruits don't even stay the whole game so how would they know?

I would say this is common with every school and every sport. The only time you will probably have the place at full capacity to the end is when it is a close game, and even then you will have the old people leaving early.

Considering the product on the field I can't blame some folks for getting up and getting the hell outta there. I always stay but I can understand some. It's been brutal.

Truth is most people stay until they know for sure the underdog isn't coming back, whether it's UT or the opposing team.

The only game that I ever wanted to leave early was whenever it was that we finally beat Florida in some sort of torrential downpour, and DXH (dear ex-husband) refused to leave. I went to the car and sat there pretty contentedly listening to the game on the radio and reading something or other.

That was back when we won with a decent regularity. Nowadays, if I ever do get back to the hood to watch a game, I'll stick it out until the cleaning crew comes through. I've had kids play sports, including at the NCAA level. They're busting their azzes out there. I know how they feel when the stands empty out.

If you take a date you'll have to leave early. I've never met a girl that can make it to the 4th quarter without asking when we can leave.

You either love your team (and your wife) or you don't.
If you do, it's for richer or poorer, in health or sickness.
If you don't, you lied on your wedding day-get the hell off the planet!
Get a non-stop, one way ticket Io and don't come back.

True love is indomitable. It will withstand time, the elements, all attempts to discourage it.
True love will stay, when everyone and everything else has gone away.

Maybe this just sums up what the leavers are all about:

I totally agree with them. If your a so called fan and you cannot stand to sit through an entire game then just don't go. It's disrespectful to the players, the coach and the other true fans. If I saw someone leave the ame early, I would hope they would never come back.

If it's a close game, I stay. If we are getting blown out, with a win or loss, I leave.
In the end if the day, it is a game and means nothing in the scheme of life. I have no problem with it.

Not getting spiritual on you but most don't mind getting up and leaving a church service early or leaving work early and they can help dictate your life. Football does not. I am just putting some perspective on it.

If they don't like it, then all they have to do is win and play hard. Duh-uhhh.

So your assertion is that the team isn't playing hard? I disagree with that, and I think most on here disagree with that. As for winning, I believe that is your primary issue so why don't you take a hiatus from being a Vol fan until Butch gets the program back on track. You and those that have similar attitudes are more of a hindrance to success than a help.:peace2:

Please see my previous reply to the other "fan". Take a hiatus for a year or two while Butch gets this thing back on track. Then you can come back when we are winning. That is the kind of "fan" you are, right?:peace2:

I have seen at least three of our current commitments quoted as saying they "hate" seeing our fans leave games early.

They also say they completely understand that this Rise to the Top is a process.

My advice to all fans is to listen very carefully to what they are telling us!

They've probably never had to drive in Knoxville after a game then...

Oh- I'm sorry, I'm sure the word hiatus is over the head of the two "fans" I replied to earlier. It means to take a vacation from the program. The team will do just fine, better in fact, without you and all that have the type of attitude you present.:peace2:
