A detail of civility...

We will hunt you down. We will slit your throats. We will drink your blood. I will have your decapitated head on a pike in the Madison town square. This is your last warning.

sjt18 -- What a hater you are. We're talking about their "rights" to collectively bargain (you know - for wages HIGHER than inflation). Under those extreme circumstances, anyone would act this way. Sheesh.

It is written in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

There are nut cases on both sides.

At least two Congressional district offices were vandalized and Representative Louise M. Slaughter, a senior Democrat from New York, received a phone message threatening sniper attacks against lawmakers and their families.

The Associated Press reported that the authorities in Virginia were investigating a cut propane line to an outdoor grill at the home of a brother of Representative Tom Perriello of Virginia, after the address was mistakenly listed on a Tea Party Web site as the residence of the congressman. Representative Bart Stupak, Democrat of Michigan and a central figure in the measure’s abortion provisions, reported receiving threatening phone calls.
Representative James E. Clyburn of South Carolina, the highest-ranking black lawmaker in the House, said he received an anonymous fax showing the image of a noose.

Its pretty simple. The cause of the workers is considered "just". They are viewed as the oppressed and are simply resorting to death threats as a last but legitimate tactic.

An old guy at a town hall meeting about HC raising his voice though is dangerous for America.

Hey, look! It's another thread fueled by divisive illustrations of how one political party is somehow better than the other!

This is getting old like midnight reruns of Roseanne.

My participation is not based on one is better than another at all.

It is simply pointing out the whole issue of "civilty" is a political ploy rather than a serious concern about discourse.

I've thought from the beginning that calls for "civilty" are bogus.

The main difference of course is that some random unknown nutjob or goofball sends a threat whereas an actual candidate for the U.S. Senate refers to "Second Amendment remedies."

Wasn't directed at you, but you're right on this. It's all about PR and painting the prettiest picture for the people to gawk at.

Not yet since the bill is on hold by a county judge, but what would the consequences be?

I'm referring to federal public employee union members. The King of Human Rights took away their collective bargaining rights (Carter).

So the US is directly violating these basic human rights?

A candidate for Senate took a rifle and shot at a copy of the Obamacare bill. He actually won his election, care to remember his party affiliation?

It was in fact a Dem but IIRC it was the Cap & Trade bill as opposed to Obamacare.

The problem is that these aren't really the "nuts" of the Dem party. These are union members... and not teamsters but TEACHERS. You also have to consider how much larger and less organized the Tea Party movement was.

BTW, what was the result of the propane investigation and why didn't Clyburn produce the fax? You know this wouldn't be the first time ol' James had some confusion about the actual facts of an event don't you?

Hey, look! It's another thread fueled by divisive illustrations of how one political party is somehow better than the other!

In this particular case, one side is better than the other. The Tea Party was a massive, grassroots, unorganized, unorchestrated movement yet they didn't even litter when they rallied. To the left, they were frustratingly squeaky clean.

Yet here we have numerous examples of the "back bone" of the Dem party engaging in real thuggery and threats. So yes, if the unions represent the heart and soul of the Dems and the TP represents the heart and soul of the GOP then the GOP is MUCH better than the Dems.

You did hear about the vandalism the fine union protestors did to the Wisconsin capitol building didn't you?

The biggest thing this highlights is the abject hypocrisy of the left. Conservatives in the TP and on talk radio engaged in far less than the behavior and words of these union protestors yet Obama and the left generally decried the "incivility" of discourse.

Where are Obama and the other liberal leaders now? Why aren't they lecturing these unions about civility? Conservative leaders at least acknowledged that discourse should not be violent in nature.
