A few birthday ideas.

Thank you sir for the kind words. His birthday has always meant a lot to me. Idk if I mentioned this before but I'm too lazy to comb the thread to see lol. Is when he was born the doctor told my parents not to name him cause he wouldn't make it past a year at the latest. He has fooled them all. He will be 17.

I know I'm not a player but my blood runs 100 percent orange and I would like to wish your little brother a very happy birthday. And big brother, I wish I had you as my own big bro, nephew, or son etc. -- don't sell your own efforts for your brother short. You're getting things done. He's lucky to have someone like you as his big bro!! :hi:

And Easttnken wow. You make us all proud. And yes, you are absolutely living the whole love thy neighbor bit. :salute:

Kind words Sir...Thank You. Having the opportunity to help or serve others is just a blessing for me.

And I hope the OP won't mind me sharing this...his (OP) birthday is Saturday, the day after Little Bro's. When I asked him about gifts for his own Birthday, he paused, and said all he wanted was for his Little Brother to have the best birthday ever. THIS is a big part of why I have tried so hard to help this young man. Unconditional love, support and selflessness, to me IS A VOL. OP has won my respect thru this birthday quest.

I had a friend in middle school who had cerebral palsy and I remember some adult warning us he might not live too long. I think they thought they were protecting us by trying to tell us not too get too close but none of us listened. He was our friend pure and simple. Kids don't think of protecting themselves from possible heartbreak the way adults do and especially not the way doctors do.

For a long time I think that's been the perception of those suffering cerebral palsy and it's only now that that we know more about it and that not all cases are alike that the perception is starting change. I'm glad your bro has proven them wrong and I hope he keeps proving them wrong for a long time to come. People with CP miss out on a lot because of their illness but they have so much they bring to this world that makes our lives better.

You guys are the best -- I swear it. I want you both and lil bro in my own family. You're just inspiring. It makes me want to do better so I can do even more for others.

AMEN (not trying to force my beliefs on anyone)
God loves us all, and has a plan and purpose for each of us...even those with challenges and disabilities.

I took some courses at UTK during the Ernie & Bernie years and I ran into my bro's favorite b-ball player, Bernie, on campus. I told him my bro's b-day was coming up and asked what should I do. He gave me the laces out of his sneakers. Little brother tied those laces into some old sneakers he played pick-up games in at the city park. He wore those sneaks unwashed til they wore out, but kept those old laces. Swore he could run faster and jump higher. He probably has the stinkin', grey, threadbare laces framed. Shoelaces. Special ones. Probably the best present I ever gave him.

Tweet his fav and ask for laces he's actually worn, they'll put wings on your little brother's feet.

I wish I could "Like" this post many, many times...

This is some great stuff. It might be worth a shot to tweet Butch...

Yep, it's worth a shot. I suck at twitter and don't have Butch's twitter, but will try. Maybe OP or someone with better skills than me might give it a shot as well lol.

Even if he doesn't have much luck with contacting players and coaches, maybe he can at least have this thread as kind of an e-birthday card for little brother.

I have given butch a shout on twitter to no avail. I think he's not been on twitter much cause every time he tweets it sends it straight to my cell phone and I haven't got anything @UTcoachJones lately

Even if there's nothing this year maybe it could done next year or even at a later date this year. Persistence can pay off on these kinds of things.

Yea, I went back and tweeted about 10 more players and coaches. I figured if they get the messages, they might be able to get something to him a bit later.

I feel bad for having so many posts here, but I figure OP is busy with work, college, and helping with Little Brother so I just wanted to try to keep it going...sorry if I've gotten on anyone's nerves lol.
