A Few People Are Upset Over Lady Vols Record Setting Against North Carolina Central

I am not upset because this is the way CKC coaches the game. She put in everyone but the water and towel girl. I remember when a few people were mad because Kim and Genno ran up scores. However, lower level teams know what they are signing up for when they play one of the 4 major conference teams or UCONN. CKC is trying to teach her ball players to play at a certain speed and level no matter if it is UCONN or if it Slippery Rock. Sometimes against poor competition there will be blowouts, records set and records broken. Good coaches do not dumb down their team so that poorer competition will not get blown out.
Bombs away and it don’t matter who’s the recipient!

Where did I say Caldwell scheduled them? Where did I even insinuate that? That's a misrepresentation of what I said.

They were a little under .500 the last teo years, and are 0-12 this year. I don't understand the need to take shots at me for saying a Division II team with their profile probably isn't the type of team Tennessee should schedule. It's not as if I said anything untoward either.

I mean, I recall a whole lot of us piled on Mulkey for scheduling a pasty soft schedule in 2022. Because she had a pasty soft schedule that year. Maybe 2023 also? I forget. Whatever.
Mulkeys team just beat this same team we played by over 70 about a week ago. She played everyone also.

UNC Central HC Baxter was "thrilled to give his team a chance to experience TBA on the floor named after a coaching legend"..He beamed when telling his team they could tell their kids & grandkids about playing against the Lady Vols in such a famous venue..Anybody expecting a semblance of a close game was kidding themselves..The NC Central team was devastated by injuries and their 0-11 record was an indication of that coming in..Exhibition games every year usually go about the same way but nobody seems to notice enough to complain..

I didn't hear anybody bitchin' when Florida State beat them 119-57 Nov. 18th or when North Carolina beat them 119-43 Nov. 29th.. I SURE didn't hear of any outrage over the 131-44 beatdown LSU doled out to them Dec. 1st, on a Sunday of all days...I guess an 87 point win is allowed if you're LSU..I watched the entire UT vs UNC Central game and would watch again if they play in the future..But spare me the fake outrage..The score will probably be about the same..And UNCC will use it to prepare for the MEAC battles after their pre-conference schedule, just like this year..If someone doesn't like it, don't watch..But it is the way WCBB is now days..Like it or not.....That's my take...Carry on

Coach Caldwell played every player available, and substituted freely. She demands excellence, runs probably the fastest offense, so there will be some blowouts. This is Her FIRST YEAR and this team must improve a bunch to handle Conference play; and the only way you improve is go wide open on every possession, same with the defense. If you don't like the results, don't step in front of the Train.

That's what I've said from even before the game ... that the NCC players will get a thrill in playing on that stage. They may have been too young for most of them to know much about the history of Lady Vol basketball, of Pat, of TBA, etc. when they first heard about the game, but I imagine they ended up looking it up after other adult people in their lives reacted to news they'd play at Tennessee with, "Wow! That's so cool! You'll be on the court that Pat Summitt coached on. That Candace Parker and Chamique Holdsclaw and Tamika Catchings and Rickea Jackson played on! Lucky you!"

If I'd been in their shoes I would have enjoyed every minute of the experience. 💯

Laughable Edie, Favor, and Ace got more playing time than they will get in any other game all season. She could've went with eight players and put 150 up. We missed 12 free throws. NCC signed up for the game and they have already suffered some similar beatdowns this season. Take care of the ball was the big problem 44 turnovers forced your going to score a lot of points.

It’s literally just UConn fans terrified. They can taste the irrelevance coming their way when Geno is done.

The Lady Vol brand will be #1 again and they’ll be a dusty afterthought.
Tutt, tutt. Shea is preparing to assume the mantel. 🤣😉🤙🏼

Again, the fake outrage is being manufactured in this thread. There is no grand national outcry over the LVs scoring 139 on an over matched opponent.

I am sure you can find some fan on an opposing board who says something negative but that is not exactly an representative sample.

No one should expect Uconn or Vandy fans to sing our praises. I mean come'on.

On the whole, the national buzz is much more about how rapidly the LVs are rising in the rankings and doing historic things way ahead of schedule. This road trip can go a long way in continuing the positive vibe and upward rise.

I find it interesting that some fans prefer to focus/invent a narrative about "everyone being against the LVs" versus the reality that the national conversation is about the potential (cause it is still early) re-emergence of the LVs as a national powerhouse.
