A friends daughter who goes to UT needs help

Tell her to save all her money. She doesn't need make up, getting her hair done or a fancy orange blazer. I know college students can spend/waste money. If she eats nothing but beans and rice for the next six months she'll have enough for two semesters abroad. Success is given to people who want it more than others. It's not given to people by others, unless you got a rich daddy.

This x1000, instead of asking for a handout, cut back on some "luxuries" and pay your own way. If people would look to this first instead of panhandling, maybe we would be better off for the future in this country.

OP, The problem that most on here have is that everyone on this site has a friend who has a cause and is Vols fan. We all could start threads on what we think are good causes.

My wife and I usually give to people who are helping others when they're traveling, ie mission trips. We are also adopting, but I am not starting a thread to help raise $20k. I reached out to our family, our Church, and our closest friends.

to go along with mdrew... If she shows that she is a good steward with her money then others will may feel more compelled to give. There are plenty of ways to raise the money. Best of luck to her.

How did I miss this gem of a thread?! This must have been posted in the Football forum originally.

Only thing you can do with a Sociology degree is go to grad school. That's what I did

I don't think that's true. There are quite a few young men that have gone on to have successful football careers after earning their sociology degrees.

I asked my guidance counselor which degree had the most Math, because I was good at it, and she told me Math. She failed to tell me how hard it was, and that is why I wound up with a degree in Economics.
