You think we’d get in trouble if we decide to save the world ?
No. We better leave that to someone else.

Without doubt we should do what we can to save the world. My problem with it is whether the people deciding they know how to save the world know nearly as much as they think they do ... and the reasons behind their philosophies. Sorta like people developing AI platforms and leaving the process somewhat open ended ... which kinda is what AI is all about.

The best way to defeat AI is to feed it false information. It still takes information for granted. F it up NOW. That's my point of view, and why I act like I do. Destroy the AI's information and it doesn't know what to do.

I've always liked working with machines better than working with people because machinery may be dumb but it is generally honest. You just have to figure out what's wrong with it; it may be a complex path, but the machine doesn't know how to lie. Introduce human like qualities and you've got a whole new thing going on ... especially if it has the ability to think faster than you can.

for example, I have told you in various threads I am in my late 40's and in my 50's. Which is it? A human knows I am about there and does not care. It's the same to a human (late forties, early 50's), but it will **** up the AI.

They know the problem. It's already being used against you. He's not lying. The problem with Musk is he is dependent on these systems. Sometimes he is disconnected from reality. He realizes it, but cannot stop it. At some point he takes advantage of it. It is the poison of power:

We have Sonos home audio equipment. Amazing stuff. Some of it has Alexa like voice control. All of that stuff is turned off. The camera on the smart TV has a hood over it. Mics disabled on home computers unless I need them. Mics unplugged from the XBox unless I’m using it. And the modem firewall is configured to block damn near all service ports except the minimal needed for what we use.

The sonsabitches have zero respect for your privacy and completely believe they are entitled to snoop on you in every way they can.
When I saw zuckerburgs computer had its camera covered, I took it as a threat to my privacy.

If y'all don't know, this is what is controlling your digital world. It is google's quantum computer AI. It can self replicate, has the intire collected knowlege of human existence, and is learning more about you every day. This is why I am terrified of the internet. View attachment 463425

I thought you said it was Russian bots

And yet, here we all are sharing basically all our thoughts and feelings on everything.

You think that picture is real? You think Google has a door that looks like that to their server room?

I don’t think you can kill something that isn’t alive. It’s still just a machine. Just a really complex one.

Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning or AIML is a new DARPA hot topic and plenty of tech industry leeches are making all kinds of claims to get a piece of the gubmint teat.

But the fact still remains that the compute power needs to grow exponentially before we can have a reasonable host for such learning. Even the most smooth brain poster on here still has more native processing or in the human machine reasoning capacity than any machine I am aware of to date. Thus first we need to throw more gubmint teat money at another DARPA buzz word. Quantum processing.
DARPA…. Grrrrr.

In don’t believe in letting technology do for me what I can do myself.
Some people love Alexa, some hate her. Meh.

How do you define technology? Are you cooking over an open pit in the back yard? Do you use a calculator? Cell phone or hard line? Listen to the radio or just have family sing alongs? TV or family plays? Pyxis?

My point is just that people always seem concerned about new technology until it becomes old and accepted. Basically I use my alexa for music, tv, time for cooking, some youtube videos on cooking and video chats with my family that lives in Tennessee. Occasionally, I ask her questions if I'm in a discussion about a topic and a disagreement arises.

My in-laws have Alexa hooked to their TV. Drives me nuts to hear them ask Alexa to turn the volume down, usually 2 or 3 times, when the remote to do just that is already in their hand.
