A&M out of Gator Bowl

It looks like the bowl plans to look for another team. How would that work? Weren’t all the 6-6 teams given bowl spots?
Perhaps we see this with another team and they can find a proper opponent.

That's the only hope; the Gator Bowl would take the highest APR 5-7 team (presumably Texas, which would be really funny), but it's far too late in the game to get that to happen. Luckily for them, it's almost guaranteed that at least one more bowl bites the dust between now and then.

This just in, Bama's offensive coordinator and 80% of the team are positive for Covid, as well. But Nick Saban dismissed any thought of pulling out of the college football playoffs. "As long as the referees are on our side, we got this," Nick said. He has reportedly asked the team trainers to measure his wife, Terry, for a uniform and pads in case she's needed.

There have been yrs where 5-7 teams have been given Bowl bids. That's kind of where we are here but what team can just pick up and get prepared in a week especially with Christmas and all? I'm not seeing how this works

Give it to Vanderbilt lol
No team that wasn’t already going to a bowl is going to be able to step in on this short of notice. They haven’t been practicing, and the players are likely dispersed all over the country for Christmas break.
