A new reason to hate Gary Danielson...

Oh I hated him more when Tebow was at Florida. That was difficult to watch and listen to.

He even talked about him every game for years after Tebow's Florida and NFL careers were long since over. Until very recently, brother and I used to make a bet which quarter, using the time clock as the tie breaker, he'd talk about Tebow. A general rule of thumb was a Florida game would be the first quarter and a non-Florida game would be the second quarter.

Danielson has been annoying at times over the years, but this thread has a high level of victimhood mentality with people just grasping for reasons to be offended.

All he seems to be saying was that once you reach a certain point, the crowd noise gets to a level where the visiting players aren’t able to verbally communicate, and every decibel beyond that it doesn’t really make a huge difference. Most (but not all) SEC stadiums have the capacity and fanbase to reach that level. Not sure why anyone who actually read the full quote would find it especially insulting.

Admittedly I haven't seen heard or read this statement about Neyland and noise, but I am not sure of why all the hatred for Danielson. I have been watching the A&M game (Thank you so very much @Freak) and I really don't get it. I think his analyses are pretty spot on for the most part and I don't see much if any 'bias'. Maybe in years past he has thrown in some things that could be construed as offensive... I guess..... but damn people.

Danielson was brutal when the bloated blowhard Lundquist was still there. It was never ending self promotion, guffawing, and ego. As soon as a real pro like Nessler took over the PBP duties and made the focus the game, Danielson became a lot more bearable and I've actually had few issues with their broadcasts.

The idea of his 'rooting' against UT is kind of ridiculous, but like most announcers he would fall in love with the 'flavor of the moment', like Tebow or Alabama during their reign. My biggest problem with him has always been the arrogance, that he can't admit he's wrong even when there is replay evidence.

Talking about the move to ABC next year, I'll reserve judgment until we see who we're stuck with in the booth for those games. You know what they say about 'the grass is always greener' and 'the devil you know' - ABC and ESPN don't exactly have a stellar lineup of broadcasters, and it's likely we're going to have to endure Fowler/Herbstriet or worse yet Joe Tessitore.

I may be in the minority here but I like Tess calling games. Those Friday night MAC games he and Rod Gilmore used to call were great.

Gilmore is very good, but I can't take Tessitore. He used to be a lot better, but he's got that self importance that infects so many announcers as they step up. Jim Nantz and Chris Fowler are prime examples - great when they were just getting started, totally full of themselves now.

The hate for Danielson comes from the same place as the hate for Finebaum. "They never have anything good to say about TN" and you know what for 16 years there really wasn't anything good to say about TN. They sucked and they embarrassed themselves and the school every time they were on CBS and even when they weren't. All media types just say what is out there in the zeitgeist to say they don't actually give 2 sh!ts about your school or any other school. If you consistently play well over a long period they will line up to hold your jock if you suck year after year they will trash you because you suck. That's really all there is to this.

I thought it was a hype video of Admiral quoting Baker Mayfield I could be wrong
Nope. Admiral was reading what that person posted, an essay by Darlington. If you go back and watch the hype video, Admiral references Baker saying that the crowd noise was “indescribable.” Admiral says, eyebrow raised, “Indescribable? It’s okay. His teammates did.”

I’ve never liked him so I don’t think I can dislike him more.

Below average QB that went undrafted, started his career in the WFL, and has almost as many career interceptions as TD’s, yet acts like he’s the Grand Poobah of football.
