After 10 responses I'll add a new question.

first question:

1. If you found out Gruden was asking 10 million a year for 5 years and total control of football operations would you say yes or no.. get somebody else?

No. Too much of a gamble for a guy with no college head coaching.

No. At present date and US Dollar value. No coach is worth 10 Million a year.

No professional player is either IMO. If they are that good they can make a ton off endorsements. Can understand why people would disagree but what I think

I agree. 10M is too much for a coach IMO. I like the idea of Gruden, especially for recruiting purposes, but I doubt that Hart will be able to meet his demands (due to administrative reasons). Therefore, I believe Hart should be looking at Lovie Smith, Bill Cowher, or proven SEC-level coaches with HC experience i.e., Gundy, Stoops, Patterson, etc..

If boosters are footing the bill on Gruden's contract than why not? The college football landscape is different than it was 10 to 15 years ago. If Gruden can get us turned around quickly than he will probably make that contract look like a bargain down the road. As far as being able to beat Saban in year 2 I would say yes. Gruden has a brand name and can sell the 4 and 5 star recruits Tennessee football. The first step is getting him here and closing out this class that Dooley started--excited to see whom we could land on NSD.

Would you? Why do you ask? What good does it do to ask this question? Are you a troll? Why do you care to know? Didn't you hear the news today? What difference does it make with regards to the current situation? Who is anybody else? What is total Control? What gives you the impression that this is a set figure? Staff included? Why bother to ask and please do not bother to answer any of my questions? If you have to ask you must be fishing....too much time on your hands?

Man! I need to go fly fishin with you.

I agree with you carpbc partially but don't you think all those guys would pretty much ask for what Gruden is wanting?

Next question:

How much net profit has the university of Alabama athletics department made from 2007 to 2011? Do some research and let me know. I'm guessing around $120,000,000.00. Saban prolly made $20,000,000.00. Was it worth it? I say YES!

They would have made twenty million per year with any semi- decent coach. Yes, in hindsight, you can say that Saban was worth ten million. But you have no way of knowing that for sure. Between 1995-2005, Bama missed out on making a hundred million. It is like the stock market....a gamble.

Takes money to make money and Gruden could be to Knoxville as Oil was to Texas.
Every game would be a Florida game.

No, there are other coaches out there as good or better that would take less money than that. However, I wouldn't have a problem with the total control part

:lolabove: Ha. The dollar is being devalued everyday while the Fed prints more money. Guarantee him $10M in this year's dollar and it will be worth $1M in year 5. LOL

Next question:

Do you think gruden could beat saban in year 2?

No. We have a horrible defense running a 3-4 sceme. If Gruden stuck with it, I think the D is still 2 years away from learning it. If Gruden goes with a 4-3, we start a complete retraining of what has been implemented.
