A Suggested Offseason To Do List For Bruce Pearl.

but the statement is every bit as accurate

No, I don't think it is. Playing 10+ years in the NBA and switching teams is not the same as moving from the JUCO level to playing major Division 1 basketball. I would argue that going from JUCO to the SEC is a step-up where Garnett's situation was not. Fair enough?

Have you forgotten where Maze started his college career?

This year was Bobby Maze's first year with Tennessee, last year was Kevin Garnett's first year with Boston. They were both playing in their first year for their respective teams. Therefore, both statements are equally as accurate.

Lookie here, it's Hat's little attack dog. This comparison is beyond moronic and both of you know it.

I know he started with Oklahoma Hat. But he came to UT from JUCO. The bottomline is that most everyone in the SEC had at least one experienced guard. You cited Ole Miss and LSU as having inexperienced guards. They did while also having good experienced guards mixed in as well. We did not. Therefore, I think with a year of experience, we will be better next season.

I am not saying anything about the comparison, I was only talking about the statement itself.

Also, if you can't come up with something better than that tired retort, you should really go play with the children in the recruiting forum.

If you can't do any more than regurgitate Hat's words then please stop posting for the mere reason of driving up your post count.

It may be tired, doesn't make it any less true.

His argument is crap. But your jumping to Hat's side was just as pathetic.

I, like you I assume, am tired of the "Bobby Maze is a first year player" argument. Also, I feel that if you are going to argue points, you need to at least be logically sound. I already touched on that once in this thread. I would have done the same thing had anyone else brought up the Garnett point in a thread that I was actively scouring.

Yes, and you continued with your ridiculous line of thinking after I conceded that yes, believe out or not, Maze did transfer first from Oklahoma, then to JUCO, then to Tennessee. I was not saying he was a Freshman, just that he was not used to playing at this level. That is seen obviously by his massive decline in production from the JUCO level to SEC level. I take it for granted that most people on here know the Maze story without me having to regurgitate it to make a point that yes, our backcourt is inexperienced. I don't even see how that is debatable.

I am really just tired of bad PG play. I could care less how long Maze has been at this level. He's average. He has flashes of good to really good, but they are few and far between. Hopefully there is some vast improvement over the summer, but I doubt it.

So why do you go after JUCO players if not for experience?

What is debatable is the level of experience across the league. My point was that our team, with two should be strong junior leaders was experienced. Those two leave this off season and we'll have the young excuse for next year.

I think next year is going to be pretty bad. I want to be optimistic, but the same problems that plagued the Vols this year will be back, and there is the possibility that Tyler Smith, Wayne Chism, or both will be gone.

No, the most applicable excuse if Tyler and Wayne leave will be that the team sucks.
