A thought occurs to me...the Heupel trap.

Yes I am sure Heupel has a plan for our pass defense to be ranked 130th and for us to have the 103rd total defense. Yep that’s definitely part of the strategy.

I found this. CJH talking what he wants out of the Tennessee defense. With the solid defensive front applying pressure, there will be more opportunities for turnovers. Having the DBs play aggressively will get you beat at times as well as causing turnovers. Bryce Young had a phenomenal game against Tennessee. Any lesser QB could not have put the football in those tight spots with perfect timing. Escaping Tennessee's defensive pressure also helped Young very much. I do not see many others being as "successful" against our defense.

There is no doubt had Alabamas backup QB been there instead of Young, we would have won by an additional 14 points. He was so phenomenal dodging tackles.

Definitely don’t think it’s a lose the battle situation per se. I will say that we can blitz, play man, and take more risks because of the confidence in our offense. I think that’s the simpler version of the idea in this post. Hah

Reading comprehension is a real challenge for you, BOT.

Did this sentence in the OP just fly over your head, brother? " I am not saying that the weakness was intended nor that it wont be gladly fixed once we have the talent to fill it. "

And now you will see the trap close shut against KY. They HAVE to pass pass pass to have a chance. And basically abandon their game plan to go to a shoot out. That is exactly what Huepel wants and basically its game over for them.

More like the secondary is Gollum, whom we know was a pitiable and miserable creature but it is his irredeemable failure which ends up bringing the Enemy's defeat - which I of course, had foreseen.

And we have already turned the Tide :p

And the strategy I mentioned above only works by having not only the highest powered offense but a nasty pass rush better than the other team so we can create more mistakes on their end than they do on ours.

You are missing my point - and guys with the humorous gifs are not reading what I said. LOL

it is NOT that Heupel intended for us to have a gaping maw in our secondary - but we absofriggenlutely have one. SO, he is using what is there as part of his strategy to lose some of the battles but win the game.

As soon as we can get the talent here to put up an iron dome against opposing routes on air, then CJH will likely shift strategy.

Point is he is strategizing with what we HAVE to win the game, not what we hope to have in the future. That indicates good coaching / chess mastering to me.
You made your point quite well. I agree that it seems that's exactly what opponents are getting sucked into. Tonight's game is a perfect example of it in action. With 3 picks and a few sacks to show for it
