A thumb in the eye of the SEC

This is so true. I feel that if we can string a few winning seasons together, the top recruiting classes will come. Kids want to be the best and play for the best.
I don't feel like this is true anymore across the board. Yeah, there are kids that want to go to Alabama and Georgia because of the success, but could it be because of the NFL production. Georgia has 25 draft picks in the last two years and we all know what 'Bama has been doing for the last 15.

But NIL has changed it. Look at Georgia's DL recruiting. They are having problems getting kids like Jalen Carter the last two cycles. The top DLs have gone elsewhere in spite of what? Seven or eight first-round defensive picks the last two years (should have been more, the Dean kid should have been 1st round)? I know they have a great class, but they have missed on kids they wanted really bad, just like the Vols have. We're no where near through adjusting to the NIL world.

I am now cheering for maximum chaos after the total screwjob performed by SEC officials against Tennessee this year. Remember, 11 quarters against an SEC oppenent without a single live ball foul. Meanwhile if a Tennessee player even thinks of holding its called.

Heres what could happen without the obvious and corrupt influence of the SEC officiating office:
1. Tennessee knocks off Georgia.
2. Alabama loses to Auburn
3. Alabama beats Georgia in the SEC championship
4. Texas, Florida State and Washington OR Oregon win out.

Here's hoping this is how things play out. Its exactly what the Birmingham Alabama SEC suits deserve after the obvious and corrupt bias we've been subjected to this year.
Quit being so damn paranoid.

The refs this Saturday will all need shoulder surgery and rehab from throwing flags.

I agree with your statement, I was just pointing out that most Blue Chip players, would rather go to a team that has success, over a bottom of the pack team. They are also looking for playing time. I agree that NIL has changed a lot of this and will continue to do so.

Eh, recruiting is something a coaching staff is either good at or not. Kirby went 8-5 his 1st year including losses to UT, UF, GA Tech, and Vandy. A few months later he signed the #3 class. Heupel clearly isn’t a great recruiter but hopefully NIL will help us with that.

But let me ask you this, what makes a “good recruiter”? I think of it like being a salesman, you need a good product to sale, in order to be successful. If we were 9-1, at this point of the season, do you think we would have the attention of more prospects?

I just hope what Sankey did eventually gets out

Kirby didn’t inherit a program 1) coming off 3 outta 4 losing seasons& 2) facing a two year NCAA investigation for major recruiting violations either. Kirby Smart is todays Phil Fulmer, only better. Ga was a contender but not a closer with Mark Richt. Smart raised the bar a couple steps just like Fulmer did here.

Smart is a much better coach than Fulmer was but their situations are very similar. Neither took over a program that needed rebuilding

It can be both.

How many players do we have on our roster that would get starter minutes for Bama or Georgia? Jaylen Wright is the only one on offense I can come up with. I think our DL is at least competitive with theirs, and maybe throw in Aaron Beasley. No one else on offense or defense would see the field, would they?
I would say more that that… they were recruiting several players on our roster

I mean Gillespie has a great recruiting class at UF and they are going to be a 5 win team this year. Winning games helps with recruiting but it clearly is far from the most important part. There is a reason why good recruiters are paid so much even if they aren’t good on the field coaches.

Gillespie at UF and Cristobal at Miami both took over after bad seasons. Proceeded to have bad seasons in year 1, and still are bringing in great classes. Having a good record helps recruiting but it is far from the most important part of recruiting.

Who the F is Gillespie at Florida?

Cristobal is a Miami icon among HS. He was a great recruiter in SFla while he was at Bama.

Here's the deal. Bama has ALWAYS jobbed everybody else in the SEC when it comes to officiating. It's just part and parcel of who is the SEC. It's why beating Bama is sooooo satisfying because you got jobbed and overcame it and beat 'em anyway. It's been this way since I was a kid in the early 60s and is the same today. Perthaps with OU and Texas joining it will change but I doubt it. The only college programs worse used to be Notre Dame and Penn State when they were independents.

That bunch at Penn State used and JoePa piled up his wins with were the absolute WORST. Bama had a home and away series with Penn State late in the Bear's career. On national tv for a win late in the game Bama needed a TD for the win. Last play of the game the ball is passed into the back of the end zone. Bama receiver goes up catches it, is brought down with a Penn State defender hanging all over him and is brought to the ground. From the waist down he's in the end zone, waist up he is out of bounds. Zebra runs over and gives the two hand swoosh sign Bama caught the ball out of bounds while half his body is in bounds, Game over, Bear never complained he got jobbed just like he jobbed everybody in the SEC for years and years and years and Bama with the SEC HQ in Bama is still doing it.
you should live down here in the middle of alabama surrounded by bammers. They always say refs don't favor them. BS
