a couple of plays don't make you a great finisher.
You're the one that said he was a terrible finisher all year in '07-'08. I simply pointed out that Tennessee wouldn't have gotten out of the second round without him. Now that I think about, when you factor in the UVA game the previous year, Bruce Pearl would still have never survived the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament at UT without Ramar's finishes.

i was actually a pretty big Ramar fan because he tried hard. But his 2nd year he could drive all the way to the basket but would always miss the shot. He did come up pretty big in the big games though. It was very frustrating watching him play. He had so much talent.

Midfielder, stop now. I would hate to see hat ridicule you some more. Actually, I would really enjoy it.

hatvol is right... he is a good finisher. He lacked confidence at the beginning of last year and it definitely hurt him.

Losing Dane killed Ramar as well, he took a lot of the pressure off RS and was able to set up the offense. There are a couple of factors that affected him but the ability is there.

i have a feeling if this kid was black no one would have a problem with taking him. But this kid is very athletic as proven by his football performance.

I didn't know what his ethnicity was when I started posting in this thread. I am only looking at his stars and the other schools recruiting him.

Haha. TheScottyHopson I think should be more offended by that comment than me. Hey go get verbally destroyed by hatvol again.:good!:

yeah thats what I thought... how am I a dumb poster? This is like my 10th post and I am pretty sure they have all been pretty good (correct grammar/english/etc.). He might not agree with me but that just proves he doesn't know ish about basketball

Perhaps Craft will assume Tabb's role when he gets here, with the ability to run the point.

Does anyone think he will be part if of this class if We get a commit from Sykes. Shelby can play the 1 or 2. Jordan McCray plays the 2 and Sykes can play 1,2 or 3. To me that would be an too many in guards in this class. What do you think? I think we really need a big man somehow. But its sounding like Sykes is a tallent you cant pass on.

i dont know too much about Sykes, and where he stands..
but apparently Craft will fit in PERFECTLY into Pearls run and gun system.. he's a long 6'4-6'5".. and he's extremely athletic and can shoot the rock..
and he's stronger than Hopson, Tatum, Prince.. but a couple inches shorter..
so i feel confident about this pickup.. but if we can get sykes then i'll take either..

If nothing else, this depth should prevent us from having to enter another NCAA Tournament seemingly without a PG.

Damn right, I am right. This has no effect with our "other highly ranked recruits" so stop dwelling on that.

Ramar was a 5-star SG but had to play point (and wanted to play point) because UT needed him and he was going to have to learn to play the point for the NBA. So I don't really consider him a "bust", especially since people like Jerry Meyer said he was a marginal PG coming in (Pearl turned him into All-SEC freshman). We were forced to take him as a PG because we missed out on a couple of other PGs.

Duke Crews was on the rise at the end of his freshman year and the irregular heartbeat that held him out his sophomore year definitely stunted his development.

JP Prince is another 5-star who was SEC 6th MOTY so he seems to be able to handle 5-stars pretty well if they are healthy.

Also every other non-5-star recruits has been better than their stars under Pearl... Tyler Smith, Brian Williams, Josh Tabb, Jajuan Smith, Chris Lofton, Dane Bradshaw, Andre Patterson, and Ryan Childress.

I don't see how anyone can bash Pearl. He has only showed that he can evaluate talent pretty well and is able to get the most out of his talent (unlike some coach I know...). He has dominated the conference since he joined and I hate watching ignorant football fans post on basketball. Just stay out of it and enjoy watching UT bb win.

a top shooting guard prospect? How was he a top prospect at all? He has an NBA body--and that's it. He can't shoot AT ALL, and he's not a good ball handler either! He was one of the most overrated prospects in a while. I'm sure with his body he was a terror in high school--but he's got very limited skills.
