Aaron Douglas discussion / signs with Bama(merged)

I can't blame the kid, he's had three head coaches at UT. Its not to see that TN will never be anything under Hammy. On the other hand, you have a solid HC and AD at Bama that have 10 National Championship rings between them.

That's just a sorry excuse!! Those other kids that he left behind has been through the same stuff at UT as he has!! When times get tough you don't bail out of the fox hole, you hunker down stay in there and fight!! If you ask me he is a yellow belly traitor!! who ever is gonna be in front of him next year I hope they eat his lunch when we play them!!

TN has recruited their fair share of traitors/transfers like Matt Simms. In a perfect world every player would stay 4 years at the same school, but I can't blame the kids for looking out for number one.

Matt Simms got kicked out at Louisville, went to a juco then came to UT. I see nothing wrong with transferring if it's not working but it's the principle of going to a long time hated rival that your father even played in the same game and he had a bright future at UT. If he went to FSU, OU, anywhere else but Alabama it wouldn't bother me as bad.

Just heard about Douglas getting arrested last night for DUI in Maryville. Maybe Dooley was on to something in suggesting that he stay at least eight hours away from home. He only gets in trouble around here.
Could never suit up for Bama now.

Wouldn't rule it out

Looks like DD was right, AD needs to get away from the environment he is in. Good Luck Aaron, you will need it.

I believe that this answers the questions about why some of us did not want him back.

The guy is just a bad seed. It is best that he is not part of the University of Tennessee football program. He is definitely not character worthy of what Derek Dooley is building.

What is Saban's policy on Juco transfers with DUI's or DUI's in general? I assume he will play regardless but anyone think this holds water?

He would have been UT's starting left tackle this year and the next 2 years. He's much better than Dallas Thomas.

No big feat. Being the best player out of a young bunch of unproven ones does not mean he's great.

So if Dooley hadn't made up the 8-hour rule but instead gone with the normal release as long as its outside of the SEC he would be at USC or UNC. But instead he is now at Alabama. If he turns out good at all this will be somewhat of a black eye on Dooley.
Dooley looks like the superstar in this situation. He seems to be the only adult unwilling to enable the kid. The eight hour rule probably wasn't such a bad idea.

AD found no safe harbor on VN in life or death. Wish some of the knuckle head posters would venture over here to leave his main thread quasi tactful. Not that it hasn't already been pretty well trashed.

I'm not being classless. My point was to prove the pressure that volnation put on this kid.

What a joke. So if I go out and overdose tonight, can I blame it on the "pressure" that my job / family / GF put on me?

"Pressure" is part of being an adult. We're all responsible for how we decide to deal with it.

You need to get a clue.

Agreed

Sadly, it appears that it wasn't the environment. He made his choices... It was pretty obvious that something was wrong, but running away wasn't a good solution. Problems tend to catch up with people whether they escape to Tennessee, Arizona, Alabama or the Moon. People like that will find trouble anywhere.
